jeremi3210 735 #1 Posted May 28, 2021 (edited) So was was mowing the other day and my 520 just shut off, tried to get it to restart but no luck. No spark. Waited about a hour and she fired back up for awhile again. I think the ignition module may be crapping out when it gets hot, not all that familiar with these engines and them suckes are kinda pricey to just throw one on. Anyone have some advice I would appreciate it! Edited May 28, 2021 by jeremi3210 Misspell
rmaynard 15,519 #2 Posted May 28, 2021 Before shelling out the money for a new module, try unscrewing your gas cap. A clogged vent can stop an engine, and then it will restart later.

lynnmor 7,313 #4 Posted May 28, 2021 As a less than perfect test, carry a spare spark plug with you and stick it on a spark plug wire immediately after it stops. Hold the spark plug hex against the engine and watch for spark as you crank the engine. No spark probably is the module, especially if it comes back after cool down. 2
kpinnc 12,125 #5 Posted May 29, 2021 (edited) An easier "OSI" (obvious um "stuff" inspection) would be to check the ignition coil. They can open up at high temps too. Much easier to get to than pulling the flywheel to start. If you don't have a spare you could make temp wire jumpers and set it a couple feet away from the engine (as far as the plug wires will allow), crank and let it run to normal temps, and see if you still have a spark problem.
