I cut the weld on the downpressure bar and found a shackle that's just the right width and depth. Put a notch in the bar, so all I have to do is reach under, and slide it over the notch. Then just thread the screw through it. 
Most of my Horses are hydro lift though. So with them, I just use a section of chain. I prefer to use my foot for downpressure, the 50" blade never seems to cut just how I want it so I have to manipulate it.

I've got the getting down on the floor part mastered;   sometimes I end up there without intending to.               I'm working on the getting back up part, but 50% ain't too bad is it?                  Just got to make a comprehensive list of things to be done while you're down there so you don't waste the get up part.

Why did Wheelhorse sell out to Toro? This was the beginning to the end of Wheelhorse. Wheelhorse sold out to Toro for a reported 8 million dollars , "lock stock and barrel".....

The market changed.

People quit gardening, prefer cheap junk, moved to developments with tiny lots and want no maintenance.

I think what they should have done, is make the post a threaded stud. Then retain it with a washer and a lock nut, so you could easily put the nut on with a ratchet + extension. Lock nut would prevent it from vibrating loose.

 

I have small hands, and its a bit of a pain even for me to reach in and put the hairpin clip in. Most times I use a pair of long needle-nose to try to pop it in.
