Greentored 3,214 #1 Posted May 27, 2021 Ok, I'm well aware that this isnt everyone's cup of tea- some frown, and some are flat out disgusted by taking an otherwise decent Horse and taking it off roading. Perhaps give it a watch anyhow, with an open mind. This video was shot in southeast Ohio last weekend. 2 days of hard riding, over a dozen tractors of ALL brands, and not one major malfunction. 3 2
Maxwell-8 4,277 #2 Posted May 27, 2021 Greentored, you are indeed on thin ice here. But these videos shows us how strong WH trannys really are. some are pushing behond 25-30hp. And 3 Wheel Horses I got were never used like this and had all problems to the trannys. So i guess as long as you maintain them, they will last. And redz00, with is alloy tecumsh trany pushing 50hp out of his vanguard I believe.

Yes sir, Peerless 820 trans and a well built Vanguard V twin. It is an animal! The Horse that bombed that nasty hill has been in action for nearly 10 years- with no catastrophic failures! pfrederi 17,741 #5 Posted May 27, 2021 So lets just tear up the environment leaving areas for erosion etc just so i can burn fossil fuels for no real purpose....
lynnmor 7,308 #6 Posted May 28, 2021 While this activity may not be environmentally correct, one needs to stop and think of the mansions owned by rich "environmentalists" and the land that was disturbed for that one being. 4 1
wallfish 17,011 #7 Posted May 28, 2021 There's certainly worse things those guys could be doing and I don't see the big deal. Very little impact compared to the massive bulldozing of the forests and putting up parking lots everywhere. Where's the outrage there? I assume the cruise night at the big show is burning fossil fuel for no good reason too but it's fun. 6 1
Greentored 3,214 #8 Posted May 28, 2021 Cant post something like this up without expecting a little backlash, right? Again, its not for everyone. What exactly constitutes 'tearing up the environment and burning fossil fuels for no good reason'? Pretty much every stinkin thing humans touch, if you think of it....and yes it's sad.
Maxwell-8 4,277 #9 Posted May 28, 2021 (edited) BTW there have been people getting fines for riding there quad or pick-up truck thru standing still water on their own private property. We have to be taking care for the environment, but we don't have to exaggerate. the small engines on these mowers, don't use a lot of fuel, really don't have a impact on the environment. Their is no oil getting dumped in the environment as those folks all have got axle seals because they don't want water in their trans-axles. I think we should be looking at other things/behavior that has a bigger impact on the environment. We should not forget that the factory's in Asia that makes our clothes, just dump their waste like used dyes in the local rivers. slim67 2,735 #10 Posted May 28, 2021 Reddzs mower is truly a beast and well built. Some of these guys have been at this awhile and Im pretty sure are on their own land. I like off roading myself and don't see a problem with it.
KrazeyOlDave 860 #11 Posted May 30, 2021 (edited) Not going to lie, the hill climb part would be a hard pass...too old to be eating sh*t. Negotiating some tight trails and a little mud would be fun. I mean where else can you go and have a ton of fun for very little cost? Edited May 30, 2021 by KrazeyOlDave 2

Studabaker didnt get me going through the ditch, which was/is my favorite type of riding. Super technical, low speed crawling is a blast and a lot safer and cleaner. I do have a couple other vids on file, but pretty sure the ice can't get much thinner here for me. 1
