I'd have to imagine that thing probably weighs two or three times what an old turbo 350 does.

Back about 25 or 30 years ago I had a 79 Camaro that I bought knowing it needed a transmission. I got several used ones from the same salvage yard. Took me four installations to get a good one. The guy was really great about it and gave me a new seal kit and fluid for all four.

By the time we got to the third and fourth one we were just bench pressing it into place instead of bothering to use a jack. Of course I might have been slightly younger and maybe a little stronger back then....

I too had a many slush boxes on my chest!  My brother’s 8” lifted Chevy on 40’s was the easiest, with room to wiggle under it!  :ROTF:

We had a body builder dude in the shop. I remember seeing him catch 700R4 with a transfer case attached after it fell off the trans jack. :)

God Bless America thats bad!:scared-yipes:

Spent a bunch of time in Alaska, And I know for a fact that the old statement about polishing biological waste product is not true. Moose poo makes wonderful jewelry! All it takes is time, effort, and the right materials..and moose poo is VERY inexpensive raw material to start with.

Took a lickin' and kept on tickin'.

Not only wondering how it kept going, but how did it get like that?

I had a trans mount go bad, allowing driveline vibration that took out a flex plate once.  This one, I’m convinced having no bellhousing bolts will do a hurt in a hurry.

Ah, vibration. Yes, I could see an incorrectly supported driveline wobbling the plate and then the fractures would come quickly, especially if it hit a resonant frequency.

looks like all that weight was ready to rip the center out, finish off the housing, and drop the front edge to the asphalt and do a quick rear axle removal!

Beginning the tool box mount...  it’ll solely be welded to the flat bed, nothing on the frame.

I’m burning some midnight oil tonight... but you’re up in the MIDDLE of the night!

I have this U channel to weld on the bed for ramp cleats.  That project is next :banana-linedance:

I’m planning on leaving Tuesday night after golf league.  I can’t leave my Caddy hanging and take off early!

I think the spares will be strapped down somewhere for this trip, but I’d like to build a couple of these out of round tube:

Now there's a question....

@pullstart Kevin how are you registered?

I know if that truck was here in Maine I'd be Commercial Plates for sure because it's dual rear wheels...

I WOULD have to stop at weigh stations at least in Maine and New Hampshire.

Some interesting info:

My "New-to-me" 86 F250 is registered commercial.

If I'm pulling a trailer or if I'm asked, I'd need to stop in all states here in New England.

Pretty interesting there, indeed!

This truck is a 15,000 lb gvwr.

Michigan says any dual wheeled vehicle over 10,000 lbs must stop.  I’ve never seen a 1 ton dually hauling a camper in a scales stop?
Ohio says commercial vehicles over 10,000 lbs must stop

Pennsylvania says any and all vehicles are subject to inspection.

It was stated a few days back how messed up Michigan’s Secretary of State is right now.  I have an appointment for October 18 to get all the dealings done on this thing!  Because of our property classification, we can register it as a farm truck that should exempt it from many rules and regulations.

Around here you'd have to pull in whether you were hauling just a camper or not. FARM plates might change that though.

In Maine. Absolutely. Anything registered as Commercial has to go through a weigh station. ALL dually trucks are Commercial here.

Passenger car plates are good for up to 10,000 lb registration but all dually trucks are higher than that.
