It's 9:30 pm and the deer are out having a snack, couple days ago a black bear was passing through.

Nice to be able to set and watch the wildlife.

A big part of the reasons we're clearing off some of the backyard is to see the animals better and make it easier for them to get to water.

I see a 60" mower deck in your future.

Hahahaha...

It's waaaaay too rough out there.

I'd love to be able to turn that into a pasture of sorts but that area could never have a regular mower on it unless heavy machinery was brought in to take out all the roots stumps and substantial amounts of rocks and boulders.

I see deer and turkey a lot.   Trail cams see fox, coyote and fishers.  I've seen black bear in the back yard but rarely.  They are still around but I think less so.

I live 4 miles from the heart of the city. The James River run thru the middle of the city and I am about 300 or 400 yards from a large creek the feeds in to the James . natural highway for wild like . My back yard is has been full of wild life this year. Red fox, deer ,coyote , rabbits  all kinds of birds and the bushy tail rats that live here year round. Love watching them.

Oh yes yes.

I may have been known to throw small pieces of metal in their general direction.

Our little plot has chestnuts, hickory nuts, walnuts, and me....too many different types for the squirrels to resist. A small herd of dear traverse the front lawn about dusk and dawn every night, the rat snakes know they're welcome(in exchange for occupying space and resources that rattlers and copperheads might otherwise enjoy), the bunnies hop just out of reach of the dogs on the front lawn, Denali does her part to eliminate the local  possum population, but the skunks have figured out to avoid our area(thank goodness), an then the hawks keep perching in our trees to keep an eye on the field below for any tasty movement, but then no starlings tend to gather near the hawks' favorite corner of the ridge.
