how hard is it to find the back part with the pulleys? 

because aparantly the one he has is for something else and won't work with it

Nope. That's a short frame plow. If you look at the frame rails they are in a perfect triangle. Long frame plows have a section at the back that is parallel to one another.

The red plow pic is a long frame plow. The rusty one is a short frame.

That's a question you'd have to answer on your own after trying each of them out for a while.

They have different usages. Different people have different preferences. Different landscapes require different tools.

 

Some things to think about. 

To use a plow you have to have a place to put the snow. Here in Maine we get quite a lot of snow so obviously I need quite a lot of space to pile said snow throughout the winter.

With a snow blower you have the advantage of being able to put the snow in a place where you do not need to drive the tractor.

With a plow however, the surface is scraped cleaner.

 

In my yard Trina and I tend to use both a snowblower and a plow, often during the same storm.

Depends on the amount of snow and the density and moisture level.

I was attempting to mow with a 48 inch mower deck for my wheel horse 417-8 and it seemed like there wasn't any power to the blades at all and the belt is tight and everything seems to be tight so I don't know why it would be doing that

You can probably pick up a nut at a hardware store, although the stock one is a 'flanged nut' with serrations on the back to lock it in place.  You could use a separate nut, lock and flat washer.

 

The spacers you would need someone to tell you the sizes, there are two different ones, but you can make them out of the correct size steel pipe if you can't find yours.

 

Have you got a metal detector?

I found a nut and cut two spacers from some pvc pipe that was the right size

Maybe in a pinch for one or two mowings, but you really want to use steel for those.
