seuadr 488 #28 Posted May 18, 2021 Just now, squonk said: 1 engineer of any kind in a family is bad enough imagine two! i'm an "engineer" but not a "real" one. i am trained for HVAC design specifically. no way was i going to do the extra classes to get my PE - as it does nothing for me, and the math required would probably give me an aneurysm. oddly enough, i don't do any engineering in HVAC anyhow - just evaluating other people's poor quality engineering.
squonk 41,118 #29 Posted May 18, 2021 My last 2 jobs had "engineer in the title. I had to Re-engineer what the higher paid engineers engineered into a building that didn't work as they were engineered too! 1
Wheel Horse 3D 3,795 #30 Posted May 18, 2021 @squonkLOL there's a big difference, between a highly skilled and experienced technician, and what qualifies as an "engineer" these days! Old school engineers had it down and could actually break a system down and think how it works. Now I think the youngsters rely to much on simulations and models without understanding of HOW it works.

kpinnc 12,061 #34 Posted May 18, 2021 Well thanks fellas. It took me 15 years in Telecom to gain the experience to finally make engineer, and reading this thread makes me feel like a cheeseburger technician. ...I guess I'll go weld something, or at least swing a hammer until I hit my thumb or something. Geez!
C-85 681 #35 Posted May 19, 2021 My family used to be W/H dealer years ago, so I had to sell a lot of them, and that was okay. That was years ago and if I had to part with either my personal C-85 or C105, I think it would be a lot like this - C-
