Jimmy0331 27 #1 Posted May 15, 2021 I have a 1969 raider 12. I was mowing this afternoon went to shift into neutral and shifter felt sloppy. Tractor is now stuck in 2nd gear. I believe a set screw walked out. The shifter will pull straight out. Now is there any type of clip that keeps shifter in place in the trans or just the set screw secures it? Thanks Sorry if this has been discussed in other discussions I am not that great with internet related things.
Tractorhead 9,064 #2 Posted May 15, 2021 Look under your Shifterboot. There is a Setscrew in the middle of the ball mount facing to the driverseat side from the shifterhole. You need an allan wrench to gently tightening the setscrew. but don‘t overtighten it.

Normally you can't install the shifter back in unless she is in neutral.

ebinmaine 67,620 #5 Posted May 15, 2021 The folks above have you headed the right direction. You'll need to use a long pokey thingy like a punch or Phillips screwdriver to realign the shift forks. Look at the forward side of the base of the shifter for the threaded hole the set screw goes into. I'm thinking the set screw is a: "Half dog" 1/4-20 x 3/4 or 1". Also needs a jamb nut. Also an excellent time to replace the rubber shift boot. Also a good time to change the transmission fluid since you'd pour it into the shifter hole when refilling.
