Had to pull it off there..need that power cord to charge batteries in the Polaris!

But I dare say we are good, and unless you let yer light bucket get clogged, and defeat the thermodynamic features of the bucket as designed you should have no problem with your new lens, wether it be one of mine, or a NOS type for quite some time!

why not use LED bulbs?

Tuneup

If those are Chinese bulbs, you've about exhausted their lifespan of 24 hours. LEDs aren't all that much better. Kinda funnin' here but then again, not really.

I am kinda surprised the filaments didn't give out. I kept expectin' to find one blown. I'm not sure they're not factory original LOL. Figured the test needed done, and I figure on switchin to LED at some point anyway.

1. The light from an LED bulb is just different. There's something about that warm glow of the filament bulbs(kinda like the glow from an old tube radio) that just goes better with some of these beautifully restored show pieces.

2. Modern LED bulbs sometimes don't like how the electrical system on these older machines work. These take AC directly from the turning engine  and "rectify" it into DC.(use a couple diodes to make the current only go one way) While the diodes do their thing AC still has the whole "alternating" thing with voltage going up and down. The result can be LEDs that flicker. The Glowing filament in the filament bulbs continues to glow a bit during that little dip in voltage and you don't notice the flicker. This CAN be remedied by addition of a capacitor filter that smooths out the voltage, but then that's just more modification to a perfectly original tractor. For a worker..sure LEDs! But for a showpiece...I think i'd stick to filaments too.

well, i solved that flickering problem by not having a charging system on any of my machines , battery only

yes, the LED glows different...but due to a lack of charging system, the fact i usually don't mow at night and nothing i have is  "show"  worthy they work for me

you mileage may vary

My current tractor is a worker, so it will get LEDs at some point, but then I'm an electronics guy, and once i get Dug turned into a digger I may be adding some other lights or items where my charging system will come in handy. LOL(USB, DVD, chilled cup holders, backup camera :ychain:)

I think that's the first thing you said here that I read that makes sense! :ychain:

Very true ... I have leds, 1156 =,  in a restoed 1067 and went with those so as just not to risk damage a 50 yo lens. Running a separate ground to the bucket helped but still a noticeable flicker. This is on a tractor that has a DC genny too. Tractor is seldom used at night save for the occasional nite booze cruise at shows so no matter. Guys in front of me don't like it tho they think the :law-policered: are after them!
