Rear Tire Cleats

Recommended Posts

How does the forum like the Wheel Horse #7607 Rear Tire Cleats 23 X 850 -12 or equivalents?

Is it true that you can not use non-ground engaging attachments only? Why?

Thanks,

Mort

By cleats we mean chains?

Depends on many factors....

Asphalt or concrete or aggregate?

Is the grass area soft?

Why do you want chains?

All of my information above came from a manual or a Wheel Horse brochure.

The 7607 are rear cleat tires. They are not turf tires. I am not wanting to put on chains but just changing tires.

Never had cleat tires so not sure how they are on grass (not nice sod).

Why does it say you can not use non-ground engaging attachments with these tires?

Thanks,

Mort

I'm fairly new to the garden tractor game having only owned one for just a few years now but I just have no idea why it would say that....

That is why I am asking the question before I buy them.

I don't see why Wheel Horse would say that in their brochure.

They only say it on the 300 series not 400 series

Could it be related to the two different rims in the manual 111516 & 110677?

Thanks,

Mort

I've run chains and I've run ag "cleat" tires year round on mowers with no issue.  I've done more damage with turf tires when I hit any wet, damp or otherwise slick grassy areas where the greater traction continues rather than spinning and burning up the grass blades.

But to directly answer your question, I have no idea other than perhaps someone chose some bad wording and later rewrote it.  Buy ags "cleat" tires if you need more traction in dirt or even if you are mowing and have some of those wet or hilly grass areas.

I was just reading another thread that said 111516 replaced 110677 that replaced...  Same rim otherwise.
