How much does a mower deck weigh?

does anyone know from experience how much a typical 42 inch or 48 inch mower deck weighs? Hard to put on a scale - want to know for shipping purposes calculations? Perhaps its listed somewhere in WH documents.... or people know from shipping one previously?? thanks !!!!

Maxwell --- wow - impressed --  thanks for reference to Tractordata.com -- should have thought of that resource ---- actually does not have the weight for that specific model deck listed ...... but i called 1-888 for Toro and very helpful staffer looked it up for me --

The receiving customer pays when they go to Fastenal to pick up their package.  The receiving customer also is the person to call Fastenal and set up the whole thing.  Fastenal will give you a number, quote and time frame.  All the sending customer does is take the package to Fastenal.  My Fastenal had their own pallets.

Squonk ----------so then if i understand........ the purchaser paying the shipping makes the arrangements and gives ME the code or transaction number to take with me to my local shipping location - does the purchaser pre-pay the shipping, or only pay when it arrives to be picked up? Lastly - I read online BlueLane Fastenal that if its on a pallet and not crated and damaged - then there is no damage or insurance protection - what's my risk if its damaged or the recipient refuses it - then what?

no problem, sometimes a model isn't complet, but can be found with other models of that series.

While we are on the subject- I see no weight listed for the 60SD deck on tractor data. Anyone know what they weigh? My back is no longer calibrated since I left military service, but that heavy sucker is a team effort to move!

I've done it once. But, I honestly can't remember how it was paid for. I bolted the engine to a pallet and wrapped it in old t shirts and duct tape. 🤣

My memory (I am past 65 so.....) says I have seen weights for 60” decks listed here on RS as somewhere around 320(?) lbs. That would seem consistent with the reoccurring comments about how heavy they are.

Bill, the best thing to do is just call them, they will tell you what they expect you to do.  Know this about Fastenal...they are shipping their stuff to their facilities, they are just looking to pick up a few extra bucks by using their trucks.  I live in Elgin, Ill.  I take what I want shipped to my closest Fastenal (East Dundee, Ill) from there it goes to Minneapolis, Minn, next day it goes to Indianapolis, Ind. (their main hub)...then it goes to a sub hub close to where it is supposed to go...and then to the Fastenal where you want it to go.  Takes a good week.

   Fastenal seemed to not really care about the exact weight...they did not weigh what I was shipping.  I just gave them a FAIR estimate and all was good.  Transmissions weigh about 75 lbs...they were fine with that.

Talking about the weight of our decks(@kpinnc especially) brings to mind a tip to ease that burden a bit.

 

I have a MF with a 54" and it comes in at about 300#, and my 'Big D's' are no slouch either. All you need is one of those $10 HF furniture dollys and jack up the tractor. (I have to do this anyway on the MF)

 

The procedure: lift the deck as high as itll go and jack the tractor up till the dolly will roll under the deck, lower the deck/tractor til the deck rests on the dolly with all attachments loose, disconnect the deck and raise the tractor back up till it clears and pull the dolly out---- TaDa!!

Actually, my plan is to replace all the deck wheels on my 60 with casters. Adjustment will have to be one side at a time, but once set- I rarely change the cut height anyway. That being said, I like your idea of the rest of the decks!
