WheelhorseBob 1,549 #1 Posted May 10, 2021 Thought you all might like to see a very old Gibson I found on the side of the road yesterday. No idea if it’s for sale or if it’s a lawn ornament. No one was home. 6 1
WHX?? 48,813 #3 Posted May 10, 2021 Wow if that a lawn ornament I'm a unkies monkel! Check out the WI on the front of the motor... is that a cupholder just in front of the lever steer?!?!? 8 minutes ago, WheelhorseBob said: No idea if it’s for sale Did you at least make an offer owner couldn't refuse??? WHX?? 48,813 #6 Posted May 10, 2021 (edited) I'm those pics for future reference Bob! Wonder what the hoobie doo on top the chain guard is for??... Flag holder? Now I see what the trunnion on the left side is for. I thought the steer lever could be moved there for lefties! What's the rod here for on the turning brakes.... Dan I don't think mine has that.... Ours has that handle too. Ours also has a handle on the rear to raise and lower the rear hitch.
WheelhorseBob 1,549 #9 Posted May 10, 2021 Trust me it is outside on a lawn with a bunch of other stuff. It hasn’t moved in at least a year from the looks of it. Shame to see it sitting there like that. I’ll be inquiring about it, rest assured! 1

Yeah you go need to rescue it then Bob. FYI I saw a couple on CL awhile back and it seemed even restoed the top worth was 2 - 2500. There was a guy up in Wausaw area Dan that had one for 2500 and it had some kind of hydraulics on it & fully restoed in Ford gray. Still kick myself for not selling the dog and going to get it. I think tractor nuts are scared of them due to parts being $$. That one looks complete.

WheelhorseBob 1,549 #12 Posted May 10, 2021 Pretty proud of my sleuthing skills. I searched Craigslist for the town I found this in. Found an add for something in that town and asked the seller if he had a Gibson tractor that I had seen. He didn’t but I got the name of the individual who has it. More to come. 2

Handy Don 12,206 #14 Posted May 10, 2021 What caught my eye in the picture were the four belts in the drive train and the starter rope hanging on the steering lever! I am curious about the thing that looks like a beverage holder near the base of the steering lever--oil can holder for on the move lubrication? 2

The pulley on those 4 belts tilts in towards the motor to serve as your clutch. from there it's chain drive to the pilot shaft on the transmission. The beverage/oil can holder is not stock to my knowledge. Looks like an add on by a PO. I saw the jumper cables/pull rope also. Clear indication that the charging system doesn't work. On closer look, the welds on it are not very neat either. Certainly not to the standard of the rest of the tractor. Add-on agreed.
