troutbum70 857 #1 Posted May 8, 2021 After sitting all winter the ford 8n has refused to start, found it to have no spark. No spark caused by two issues copper strap connecting coil wire feed through to points broken and insulation between that post and distributer housing in bad shape. But looking for a replacement for that copper strap I see a dust cover offered on line, this does not have. My question if any one may know does that dust cover play any role other than keeping junk out of the points area? Have made up a jumper wire from post to points and insulated post, just wondering about the dust cover.
squonk 41,051 #2 Posted May 8, 2021 Dust cover is pretty much it. Keeps the carbunkles out.
pfrederi 17,700 #3 Posted May 8, 2021 (edited) Front mount or angle side mount distributor?? Either way I wouldn't worry to much about it unless you do a lot of bush hogging mowing or other really dusty work. Edited May 8, 2021 by pfrederi
