kpinnc 12,049 #1 Posted May 8, 2021 (edited) My second build along with the whatchamacallit is this one. It's a modified 520-H with a new built 23hp Vanguard. Not much to show yet, but here is the start of the build: The rear tires have already been moved to the whatchamacallit, and the new 25x10-12 tires will be here Saturday. The front tires are 18x8.50-8, on a 5 lug hub. I'm trying to gain an inch or two in height overall. The plan is to transfer that to a higher deck height of 3.5 inches with the 60SD deck. Obviously the deck will be modified as well for this to work. Edited May 8, 2021 by kpinnc 6 14
ebinmaine 67,498 #2 Posted May 8, 2021 Very cool. The rear tires in the pic... Have you used this type before? Seems like a good compromise of turf and traction.

kpinnc 12,049 #4 Posted May 8, 2021 New 25x10-12 rear tires came today. Not sure if I'll get them mounted over the weekend or not being Mother's day and all, but here they are: 2 2 1

Not yet, but I thought the same thing. Thats why they went to the whatchamacallit. Got them both at TSC clearance for $20 each so they will absolutely be worth the money either way! The tires in the pic above were a bit more, but they are meaty! Edited May 8, 2021 by kpinnc
kpinnc 12,049 #6 Posted May 11, 2021 I had to get help from the tire shop, but the new rears are mounted. Sidewalls were so thick that I couldn't mount them by hand. 8

What do they weigh each? Those are seriously beefy tires!

I didn't actally weigh them, but the ones I took off (23x10.50-12) were about half the weight- maybe less. The new ones are very thick tires. I hope that translates to durability. They're inflated to 8 psi, and that is pretty firm.
kpinnc 12,049 #9 Posted May 15, 2021 Added the front tires. Already had these, but they look almost new when clean. Most annoying bleeping tires I have ever mounted, but I like how they look. Should gain between 1.5 and 2 inches overall for the deck mods. 5
kpinnc 12,049 #10 Posted May 31, 2021 Had alot going on the last couple weeks, but I finally got a little tinker time today. Made some spacers to accomidate the 1.5" seals on the hub upgrade. Used the Harbor Freight lathe to cut some locking collars down. Ended up filing the setscrews down a little, but it works. 1
kpinnc 12,049 #11 Posted May 31, 2021 (edited) Also got some wheel painting done. Used the old card trick, and they turned out great. The front tires are really dirty, but they will clean up after the paint cures. Edited May 31, 2021 by kpinnc 5

kpinnc 12,049 #14 Posted June 2, 2021 (edited) Well, I jave to admit it- I cheated on this one. I used a paint shop for the hood and fender. I am not a painter at all. I temp mounted the sheet metal just for a mock up: Edited June 2, 2021 by kpinnc 5 5

You earned the money to pay the shop so fair and square by me.

OldWorkHorse 3,045 #20 Posted June 2, 2021 Is that a custom made tractor lift or a wheeler lift? Looks like it could come in handy...

I built it a few years ago for working on wheel horses. It will fit most any "typical" frame and allows you to start with just a frame and transmission, or take a tractor down to that point. The brackets clamp the first 3/4" cross brace common to most tractors and also the tranny plate. You can use ramps and drive a tractor on or off of it. My knees can't tolerate working on the floor anymore! Found a link to the build back in 2012: Edited June 2, 2021 by kpinnc 2 2

kpinnc 12,049 #25 Posted June 3, 2021 (edited) Found an old thread in here that mentioned these, and I'm glad it did. Mine were shot! About $6 a pair in Amazon. Well worth it! Edited June 3, 2021 by kpinnc 6
