manant 57 #1 Posted May 7, 2021 I can not find double d blades for my 48" mower. Would it be safe to use a round hole blade on the double d spindle? I would drill 1/4" holes for the spirol pins and use a cupped washer or the old star blade washers to hold the blade on. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

pacer 3,168 #3 Posted May 8, 2021 I'd say there should be a good chance that that will work, but i agree with Lee about drilling the holes. I did a set of 3 blades (6 holes) and the metal seemed to be somewhat hardened, lot of pressure to get to cut and I went thru four 1/4" drill bits getting finished. 76c12091520h 3,608 #4 Posted May 8, 2021 We've done it successfully ; however as Pacer mentioned they are tough to drill ( we use a mill ) and they must be absolutely dead on so that the holes in the blades fit snug in the roll pins on the spindle cups, and you must use the 1336 blade washers to get the correct clamping pressure on the blade. Otherwise you will have slop in the assembly and it will chew up the roll pins / wear out the holes in the blades. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
