How do you support concrete... after wood chucks dig out all the sand?

I've actually had that done.  Critters didn't cause the problem though, it was a water issue with a downspout over the course of about a decade.  Had the footings been deep enough it would not have been a problem... but this was on an OLD not intended to be permanent building that 'became' permanent by someone building around it.  It worked well and is still standing ( appx 8 years ) with a stable footing.

got rid of a ground hog last year 

I placed some cotton socks on the end of a long section of heater hose - inserted the heater hose down into the groundhog hole - and then (with funnel attached to heater hose) poured bleach and ammonia into the hose 

when I pulled the heater hose out of the hole the soaked socks remained down in the hole 

 

note :  as many are aware - gotta be careful with bleach and ammonia

Try the garden hose treatment with the pigs in the hole. Heard tell they don't breath under water well tho so be be ready with the side arm wenst they come a flying out! 

They can't be any tougher  than coon or muskrat shanks!

OK for a gut strang frailer, but to gettem tight enough for a 5 strang you need a Bobcat hide!

On the one's I've redone, I use dog food bags! Tune to G just fine!

Now that would be challenge if i could play guitar!  Lol

That ones an old 30's mass produced that the particle board body had completely dissolved, I had to reengineer everything, might need to take it apart and reshave the kneck joint.

Swapping from the old steel strings couldnt hurt either, some lighter weight nylons.Ya don't realize just how much tension is applied in a guitar or other stringed instrument till ya start trying to compensate for it!

a few years go a woodchuck excavated an area under the slab of my shop (3/4 stone).  i used one of those gas grandees...Big mistake.  he died under tether some where... The stench was awful.  the 3/4 stone isn't air tight like sand or other material.  You may want to try water or something non lethal to flush them out...

appears we could have another ground hog - but at least this time in a dirt pile away from the house

Grandpa said they make great shoe laces!  Never mentioned banjo heads...
