I've actually had that done. Critters didn't cause the problem though, it was a water issue with a downspout over the course of about a decade. Had the footings been deep enough it would not have been a problem... but this was on an OLD not intended to be permanent building that 'became' permanent by someone building around it. It worked well and is still standing ( appx 8 years ) with a stable footing.

Tonight, I’ll give it some gas treatment from a select tailpipe. got rid of a ground hog last year I placed some cotton socks on the end of a long section of heater hose - inserted the heater hose down into the groundhog hole - and then (with funnel attached to heater hose) poured bleach and ammonia into the hose when I pulled the heater hose out of the hole the soaked socks remained down in the hole note : as many are aware - gotta be careful with bleach and ammonia Edited May 7, 2021 by tom2p

pfrederi 17,674 #46 Posted May 7, 2021 a few years go a woodchuck excavated an area under the slab of my shop (3/4 stone). i used one of those gas grandees...Big mistake. he died under tether some where... The stench was awful. the 3/4 stone isn't air tight like sand or other material. You may want to try water or something non lethal to flush them out...
