I'll go ahead and take the obvious answer - it is a car quietly recycling itself into iron oxide.  

 

I found this out in the State Game Area last week on one of the dog walks.  Can anybody nail down the make, model and year?  My guess on the year is 1950 +/- a few.  The door latch ought to nail down the make.

appears to be a dell or HP laptop - possibly thrown through a window (closed of course) - to the nearby woods

or it could be a fender from the experimental Chrysler turbine car

The wheel opening looks about right, but the flare the '57 Chevy has is not there.  Seen easily in person, but does not show well in the photo.

 

Picture #3 shows the headlight bezel.  Not a '57 Chevy, too round and thin.  '55 Chevy maybe?

Once you guys figure out what it is (I have no clue), I'll be interested in hearing how you think it might have gotten there.

This is about 50 yards into the woods from a clearing.  The clearing is private land.  I'm going to guess the car was picked clean of useful parts, then pushed off into the woods  - with some sort of heavy equipment by the looks of it.
