I'd like to get a long 1965+ hood for it, but I'm just gonna use what I can find I guess. The frame is a 74, the tranny is a 82, and the front axle and wheels are from a JD 110. I'm using a Vanguard 14hp from a previous build. We'll see how it turns out.

Good to see you back building Wheel Horses.  I was Don1977 back then.  My computer went south when the board changed locations a couple of times.

Ebinmaine- Yep, stove black but gonna use a chrome guard from a Onan that self detonated with a previous owner.

WHX24- I was just about to send you a message. Oh well the search continues...

You can use  a regular C-series hood, but you have to warp it a little to get it closed.

I have one of those, but would prefer a long hood like the pic below. I can make a little extention at the hinge.

I had another air filter setup that worked better when I was still running the 16 HP. I used a tall Kohler filter and a couple of 1/4" Aluminum plates.

It cleared the hood, I just never clanged it when I installed the 18.

I don't think height will be needed, it's the width of the air breather cover. that is why I have to push the hood to the right to get it closed.

Richie cut one side of the breather cover and modified it on the tractor he is working on.

Here is a picture in side the aluminum plate breather.

Care to share the model of the front axle donor?  I’d love more info on the 3 point tractor in your avatar... it looks pretty interesting!

I think it was a JD 110 or 112- late 80s maybe?

The 3 point tractor (1971 Bronco 14) in my avatar is somewhere here in a couple older threads. Also in the "modifications" picture thread if memory serves. Should still be searchable. I still have the tractor as well.

I found the pictures!  Do you have any more info available?  Photobucket is so selfish...

There are two threads here somewhere on that build. I'll try and find them tonight.
