My HC is the favorite of all the 520's mainly due to the faster speed.

You've got to think about keeping a 520HC around? It would have a permanent spot in my barn.

Awesome machine, and two of the biggest heavy duty attachments with it! That's quite score! :handgestures-thumbupright:

Keep a sharp eye on the frame condition -- the 60" deck turned out to be at the limit for hanging weight off of the 520 frame. Some of them have been known to develop cracks form it. Banging around on uneven ground at the higher speed of the 520HC ups the risk -- there's no telling what a previous owner or operator did with it.

I'm glad I don't live in Indiana. I'd have every Wheel Horse I ever wanted the day I wanted it ;-)  Yeah, jealous.  Question: how to make a 520H do the same speed as the HC? Is it in the final drive as we don't want to overdrive the auto trans or do we simply punt and modify the pullies? My 520H wants to know.

Look at the parts manuals.  Difference I believe is in the transaxle gears similar to the higher speed in a 418C vs 418A

Understood.I have one 520H,don't have a 520-8,have four C-195's.Still would like to have a 520-HC to hang around.Would really like to have a 420-SE to mingle with my herd, but way too pricey for me.Good purchase you made there.

Is there a serial number list on these.  Curious to see if it is an 88 or 89

My 418C has the same speed gears……actually to fast sometimes……but it is great on the flats compared to my 418A.

Adams, that model number matches my 520HC, it's a 1988.
