tunahead72 2,411 #4 Posted May 1, 2021 (edited) More specifically (), the parts manual for the 05-42MS04 mower says spirol pin #933156 is 1/8"x1". -------- Edit: Garry beat me to it by seconds, good thing we agree. Edited May 1, 2021 by tunahead72

AND I checked with IR thermometer and they run quite a bit cooler too! 1
peter lena 8,584 #7 Posted May 1, 2021 JEFF, been doing that to all my bearing failure / noisy areas. drive belt pulley bearing , deck bearings , pto mule , bearings pto needle bearings , I don't have the drive pulley # , but replaced it with a bearing distributor pulley , brought the old one in and found a match on the wall board , exact size with a 5/8 " bearing size ,bronze bushing , 5/8x 3/8 , made a perfect fit , then i removed the wide rubber bearing seals ,repack with hi temp grease , talk about smooth and solid. realize this upsets the purists , but I have no bearing noise or issues . will see if i can find that pulley # at bearing distributor , that makes a bombproof pulley swap ,pete

clueless 2,976 #10 Posted May 2, 2021 If you work on these tractors much you know you have to deal with roll pins. Some are easy to remove some not so much i.e. steering wheel. I've found the best way to deal with the tough one is to buy a quality set of roll pin punches, use good penetrating oil and a hammer drill not an impact drill. A cheap Harbor Freight veritable speed, $25.00 one works fine. Soak the pin with the pen oil and give it time to start doing it's thing this may take a few minutes or hours or days. Chuck up the proper size roll pin punch and hit the pin with it a few times, come back later do it again. Like I said this may take a few minutes or several days, had one that took over a week before it came out. The few seconds of hitting the pin with the drill over a period time along with the pen oil will break the pin loose far better than a BFH The hammering of the drill eliminates most of the bouncing that happen when you wack it with a hammer, most of the force is going directly to the pin. That my story and I'm sticking to it.
