cafoose 3,354 #1 Posted April 28, 2021 I was towing a car for a friend this morning with my tow dolly and as I was pulling out onto a busy road the dolly broke away from the tongue! God was really with me because nobody hit me or the car in tow! I went home and got my trailer to pick up the pieces and I took them to my friendly neighborhood welding shop
Mickwhitt 4,593 #2 Posted April 28, 2021 Wow! Thats a very nasty situation. Stress fracture I guess, all the weight flexing the box section there. As you say someone was looking after you.
Pullstart 62,805 #3 Posted April 28, 2021 I’m sure the welding shop will evaluate the damage, but like Mick mentioned, keep the flexing properties of that tongue in mind when they repair it... or just scrap it. I can’t imagine the damage if that were at speed...
