Carburetor gasket/spacer

Recommended Posts

When I removed the carburetor from my 310-8 with a Kohler 241 engine the gasket/spacer tore badly.  The parts manual says it is a 271030, but the images I have found for that gasket show one that is "standard" gasket thickness.  The old on is about 1/4" thick !  More a space/insulator than just a gasket.

Is that the correct part number ?  Better solution ?

I had two B-100's. One of the K-241 engine/carburetor had a thick spacer, and one had a thin gasket. I've swapped them with no difference. Don't know what the significance of the thick one is. Maybe it was a clearance thing.

Checking with Isavetractors.com he says it's to insulate the carburetor from the hot engine. Go figure.

Thick gasket is an insulator to keep heat away from the carb in certain applications. Of course with that muffler right there, a lot of good it will do!

You cxan scrape the gasket off each side of the thicker one and use

the gaskets shown. The middle of most of those is plastic or something like that.
