NH requires plates on just about anything powered that touches a tire to the road, and some cops would sit and wait for anything that might cross the road or use it to turn around to ticket it. In the last year that I lived there, the town had a poster up with a picture of a small subcompact tractor with the announcement that the state had lowered the weight limit for plates on tractors again; more things were going to have to have plates. Pretty sure my 520H with the 2-stage snowthrower was over that limit -- I said nothing as I renewed my car plates... Town office was 1/4 mile from my house and they knew and even appreciated that I cleared the snow back from the shoulder of the road in front of my house, and my neighbors' house, so cars could park in the winter without blocking the road. They said nothing, either...

There was a BLUE one around here with a vanity plate on it that read "BEYOND". Ask the missus to figure that one out! It took me a while, but there are hints above. I thought it was one of the most clever I've ever seen.

Maxwell-8 4,277 #16 Posted April 25, 2021 (edited) Our BMW 2012 640i ( 3L inline 6) costs €1000 a year. ($1200) Not to forget the first year was close to $10.000 A v8 f150 would be around $1600-2000 a year. the older the car and the higer your emissions, the higher the price. not to forget our gas price is 2/3 taxes. I have know times were lot of people could afford v8, but it a very rare occasion you see a v8 powered vehicle. Only companies can still afford these wonderful high-powered cars Edited April 25, 2021 by Maxwell-8

Vehicle weight, HP, age, miles driven, emissions test, passenger capacity, load capacity, towing capacity, Drivers age, ?? in Europe, we have emissions categories: based on age (a euro1 with 100gCo2 is more harmful the a euro 7 with 100g co2 in the goverments eyes.) then, you have CO2 emssions, then they use displacement and fiscal horsepower. and if it's diesel, gas or hybrid. once your engine is over 2l, taxes increase tremendous, with steps averaging 200€ for .2l displacement increases on top of the emissions. so a very complicated formula to make things expensive and complicated so you will buy a new smaller car that is more "Green". owning a higer horspower car (+250hp) got real expensive in the last ten years. you often saw supercars our fast Mercedes, bmw, audi's jags. now, everything has less then 2l. Our Bmw is the higest hp car in the neighborhood in a long shot.

elcamino/wheelhorse 9,326 #20 Posted April 25, 2021 Our state plates are about $45.00 for each car , A 2000 Volvo S 40 , a 2001 Volvo XC70 and the POS 1984 El Camino, then we have property tax of each which is $25.00 per vehicle and the city fee of about $30.00 each . So my annual cost is approximately $300,00 plus insurance of $1500.00 . Dang I am playing too much money.

elcamino/wheelhorse 9,326 #22 Posted April 25, 2021 I got 4 plus a roller surprised I haven't been taxed for owning them. The city has a storm water fee(tax) added to the utility bill every month . It is based the square feet of your roof and any other building on the property , square footage of your drive way including gravel , side walks leading to your front and back doors and even the square footage of my 12x20 ft deck . They tried to tax churches like that and found it they were going to be lynched so that part was dropped.
Maxwell-8 4,277 #23 Posted April 25, 2021 (edited) i was thinking about registering my WH, but 400-500$ tax annually+ 500$ insurance was to much for me, so i am now illegally driving it on the road. i hope they don't pull me over and impound her (cause i won't get her back) Edited April 25, 2021 by Maxwell-8
