Yep, I would easily think sparrow but with the heavier beak and speckled breast I can now see the difference! Thanks

Built a platform feeder out of junk laying around. Finchy gave it a test run!

You'll gradually start to get a whole new set of birds once they discover that!  Northern Cardinals in particular, but also many others.

 

We've had several sightings of the Rose Breasted Grosbeak, male and female in the past week or two.

 

They are so calm!  They sit on the feeder and look around... and SLOWLY pick up one seed, eat it, look around... it's like they're stoned or something,  " Hey mannnn, this is really cool.... like far out mannnn..."

That hanging feeder in the background looks familiar too. 

 

This damn rodent hangs at an odd angle to dump the seeds out one side...

Mine are all spring loaded so if Rocky decides to hang on them they slam shut. :helmet:

These are marketed as "squirrel resistant". 

No spring doors or anything. 

 

We're going to spray cooking oil on the poles and film the fun.
