My friend as his apprentice would go first with this tool twist the fibers into the appropriate thickness and press them into the joint. Father would follow behind with caulking hammer and chisel and finish it off. He was a master shipwrights. A prolific plane maker. I still ask why but I have been blessed by inheriting his tools and lifetime accumulation of numerous items. Still today every time we get together more items are given to me. His name was Edwin DeVoe .
