The OEM belt is # 7478 and is 84" x 0.625 (5/8).  Note that an aftermarket belt may or may not be of the same quality and/or geometery to precisely fit the contours of the 'V' pulleys.   It should be routed like this...although your motion control lever may be different, depending on year of tractor.

Check the number on the belt itself. Sometimes they get into the wrong package.

I think you have to be careful with vee belts, some are measured on the O/D as yours appears to be. Some are measured on the I/D, etc, so you could have say, 3 belts, all with the same described length, but depending where the measurements were taken, they could all be different fitted lengths. The chart I looked at, which is for ‘wrapped’ mower belts, shows the ‘840’ as equivalent ’ to a ‘B82’ and an ‘860’ equivalent to a ‘B84’. So your 84” O/D should perhaps be an 84” I/D or 84” p.c.d. Measurement?

Doug.

Wh7478 crosses to a Napa Gates 5L840W. We measured those belts at the store as 84" O.D. Measure your belt wiyh a tape measure

Put the belt cover on...  The cover has a 'guide' on the backside to keep the belt from dropping too low...which releases it from the engine pulley to prevent 'slight' engagement.
