D_Mac 8,593 #1 Posted April 15, 2021 Picked up this Wheel Horse belt buckle but it is need of repair. Anyone have any experience in repairing pot metal? Piece broke off in the back. Missing the ring that you use to attach it to the belt. Be a shame not to make it serviceable again. 3
SylvanLakeWH 25,494 #2 Posted April 15, 2021 I’d just bend a piece of really heavy gauge wire and run it through. Or if I was really feeling cheap I’d go with a zip tie... Should be usable... 1

Does silver solider stick to pot metal? If not may be this low temp flux core rod would work? https://www.amazon.com/Flux-cored-Temperature-Excellent-Corrosion-Resistance/dp/B08Q3WGK3J/ref=asc_df_B08Q3WGK3J/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=475843331276&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1248176860757520787&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9018899&hvtargid=pla-1158590880703&psc=1 1
D_Mac 8,593 #5 Posted April 15, 2021 I have no clue. I have never welded anything. JB Weld? Seems a shame to turn it into a paper weight.
stevasaurus 22,711 #6 Posted April 15, 2021 Solder or lead may work. I think Sylvan would try a binge cord...live by the bungie-die by the bungie. I have had some luck with lead and pot metal, but I would not want to take a chance with that buckle.

Mickwhitt 4,593 #9 Posted April 15, 2021 I would definitely go with JB weld quick metal. Heating that metal up is way too risky and I would avoid at all costs. Personally I would cut off the damaged piece, make a tube from a piece of round brass, bend and fit a wire loop and JB weld it in place. Mick
