One day I was filling the feeders and skeert the livin' you know what outta me when a squirrel landed on the ground flat on it's back maybe 3 feet away from where I was standing. Apparently he was jumping from tree to tree above me and missed his landing branch. He fell about thirty feet. For a second he just stared up at me like " WTH just happened ? squonk 41,118 #136 Posted July 12, 2021 (edited) Weird morning at the Tweety Bird Ranch. Woke up and this Woodpecker, Dove and Finch ( cannot see on 3rd feeder) were having a stand off. Not moving not eating not even turning their heads. They take 30 to 90 second flights over the sweet corn field collecting insects that I believe are small black gnats. giddyap 1,569 #148 Posted August 1, 2021 (edited) Our Bluebirds were ready to fledge so when the nesting box went quiet we wanted to confirm the happy event. All five where gone but it was an escape with mother blue giving her life in a HOSP attack. Searching our backyard we found all five survived but with one parent, all may not get fed. But this won't be, because we trained daddy blue to come for our mealworms. One day the chicks would leave our backyard to explore their world.
