Along the East coast we just don't get any others. I think that the photo must have been blown up a couple hundred percent and the detail of color, etc, is lost (pic below from internet) Edited May 10, 2021 by Jeff-C175
ebinmaine 67,611 #54 Posted May 16, 2021 The ole ball n chain got a few more pics to share the last 3 or 4 days. Male rose breasted grosbeak A pair of Blue Jays guarding the water Phoebe flycatcher Northern Oriole Gray catbird
Jeff-C175 7,202 #56 Posted May 17, 2021 (edited) @squonk They're pretty and all... but mean spirited. They even have an evil look on their face. They chase the Grosbeaks (and other birds) away. Wanna see 'em go nuts? Put out some in the shell unsalted peanuts! Lots of different birds go crazy for mealworms too... R Scheer 502 #64 Posted May 26, 2021 Just saw this when I was taking my dog for a walk. Guessing a red tailed hawk, unfortunately I had to really zoom in to get the picture. They really have a presence about them, as in yes I actually do rule the world.
ebinmaine 67,611 #65 Posted May 29, 2021 We had a couple hiking friends over today after not seeing them all winter. Took a little jaunt up the hill across the street from our house then had a great meal and set by the fire outdoors for awhile. Our friend Kevin is notoriously frugal and I was quite surprised to hear he had gotten a new mobile phone. Even more surprised to hear he had gotten a nice one. 😂 It's specifically designed to take fantastic pictures. 30X ZOOM!!!! Here's a few pictures he snapped real quick setting in our backyard. This next one is one of our own chickens from a distance of maybe 20 to 25 feet. Note how CLOSE it is then note how well detailed it is.
ebinmaine 67,611 #66 Posted May 31, 2021 Scarlet tanager showed up this morning. Beautiful birds. And another decent shot of the hummingbird. 2

Ed Kennell 38,227 #68 Posted May 31, 2021 Checked all the bluebird boxes today. Zero bluebirds. All the boxes have been taken by the sparrows and tree swallows. The swallows really get defensive when you inspect their nests.

They stick out like a sore thumb at the quickest of glances. They are a brighter red but also have black wings.
