Stubby 19 #1 Posted April 6, 2021 I have a 05-36MS01 deck and the main (two pulley) spindle is having issue. When I grease it, the grease comes out between the pulleys and the deck. Anyone have one they would want to sell? Dont want to spend a fortune on all the parts since I am about to sell this particular tractor. I seen the post on removing the grease fitting and hitting it with a plastic hammer to see if it is straightens out and accepts grease. Another weekend project, but meanwhile... If it's coming out where you say, the fitting is not clogged. Older spindles have a seal at the top and a sealed bearing at the bottom. If you force too much grease in it will ooze out top and/or bottom pushing past the seals. Newer spindles have sealed bearings top and bottom, and an O ring on top between the bearing and the pulley. The O ring is there to prevent grease from coming up between tbe shaft and the bearing inner race. That ring is squeezed by the pulley and bearing. But you still could be forcing grease past the bearing seal. My guess is that you have the older style and maybe bad seals and/or bearings and you're putting too much grease in. I thought they are all the same spindle. But it was a part a while back and cleaned up and put back together. The others fill up with grease just fine. I am thinking it needs rebuilt. Maybe, but as I mentioned, if the grease is coming out under the pulley then he grease fitting is not blocked. Don't take that silly advice to hit anything with a hammer!
