WheelHorseC101 0 #1 Posted April 5, 2021 So I mowed my front yard this morning and it started fine and I mowed for 15 minutes then I parked it for about a hour and I went to crank the key over and nothing. I can hear my fuel pump running but it won’t do nothing when I I turn the key

pfrederi 17,741 #3 Posted April 5, 2021 (edited) Hate to ask...is PTO disengaged... Has happened to most of us at one time or another. Run a jumper battery + to starter Jim types faster Edited April 5, 2021 by pfrederi
WheelHorseC101 0 #4 Posted April 5, 2021 Yes it’s disengaged. I’ll try that
WheelHorseC101 0 #5 Posted April 5, 2021 It works that way but won’t start. I think the starter is going out on it

WheelHorseC101 0 #7 Posted April 5, 2021 Like when I turn the key it isn’t doing anything. I tested the battery with a multi meter and is around 12 volts

8ntruck 7,016 #9 Posted April 5, 2021 You sure the PTO lever is off? My 14-8 plays games with me sometimes - the PTO lever is all the way back, but the safety switch is not made. Cycling the lever usually 'fixes' the issue.
Darb1964 1,043 #10 Posted April 6, 2021 The starter is working from your video, something don't sound right to me. Is the motor turning over? Did you check fuses?
Darb1964 1,043 #11 Posted April 6, 2021 I looked at the video again, the starter is working properly, from what I hear the motor is not turning over. You may have stripped the gear off or the gear is not engaging. You sure the motor isn't stuck?
JohnD 145 #12 Posted April 12, 2021 Like Darb said, with different words: Stuck bendix on the starter? (rebuild starter) Chipped tooth on the flywheel? (turn motor by hand and see if it starts when the starter bendix contacts a different part of the flywheel)
