it is for sale in one of the wheelhorse groups - dude wants 1200 dollars which seems... optimistic, but then again i don't know anything about them.

i am assuming that is some kind of home fab work?

wondering if it was for form or function?

That is neat!  Looks like the outer rims are supported by strips of rubber, probably old tires?  Maybe conveyor belt?

Optimistic is a very good word.

If that runs and drives it might be worth half that on a good day..

Absolutely love those Steel wheels. Never seen a set done using whatever that. Rubber like material is. Truck splash guard? Super heavy duty conveyor belt? Who knows.

Could have been built for function but my life experience shows me that's unlikely.

And then they buggered it all up by putting this in the fuel line!

Curse anyone that ever paints that!  If it runs and drives I would buy it.

See that battery cable??  Not on a 502, a 502 is a (I hate to say it)  "pull start".  No tool box, wrong seat, probably wrong engine.  No way that is worth $1200 unless you are into "yard art" and it was signed by Chevy Chase.  I bet those rear wheels don't even turn in a circle...it would be like having ovals on the hubs.  Kind of like "Green Acres".  A lot of money to be able to take to a show that is Free to get into.  :confusion-confused:  It has a HY-2, what looks like a nice hood, correct foot rests, one piece gas tank, steerring wheel and patina...that's not worth $1200.  If the engine is a Tecumseh HT55C-3088P, it still isn't worth $1200, but it would be a 502.  :occasion-xmas:

Less than an hour away, it's on the edge of amish country probably explains the wheels.  There's a bunch of photos of it.  It's straight.  It's got alot of potential.

Now keeping in mind I'm not overly familiar with any of the wheel horses before 1966 or 7, and also the fact that I live nearly as far north east as one can get and everything up here seems to be platinum coated....

What's your opinion of the value?

Not trying to set anybody up to fail or cause grief strife or irritation. Well maybe a little bit. But anyways I'm just curious....

Not for that money.   Even if it was an original, perfect 502 with the tool box, it would not be worth $1200.  Maybe, in another 30 years??:eusa-think:

This might just be me and I’m sure there will be naysayers in both parties... but just for the wheels and tires showing some cool history (those were surely not built yesterday!) I’d be willing to do $500-600 if I were interested in buying it.  Practical?  Maybe not.  Unique?  Absolutely!  I have tires with flat spots aggressive enough to run a harder oval than what these might.

Why would these run in an oval?

I really can't see the pics all that well so I don't know if I'm missing something....

Is the rubber rotted? Or is it something else?

Not sure they would either.  Kinda like a spoked wheel, although there's way more than 4 spokes on them!

I think if anything, the hub center would be consistently below the wheel center and just roll on it's merry way like that.  I bet it smoothes out the bumps in the rows too!  Probably a comfy ride.

If you like it, you buy it, it's your money.   Buy what you enjoy.   Personally I think alot of people waste money "custom" tractors just because someone put a predator engine on it and welded a wrench to it.

Honestly I wouldn't spend 1200 on this, but this would be something that would intrest me and fit into my misfit collection.  The patina is awesome, it's got a good look to it

The fronts have spacing that I would believe would suspend the spindles from the top of the rim at any given time.  The rears, I could see how at times they would hang centered, at other times they might droop.  Would I care if my but we’re above ‘em?  Not a bit!  :handgestures-thumbupright:

Come on guys.  If the rubber being used a spokes is not even length all the way around, the outside rims are not going to be centered with the hub, and that rubber is not going to give...see the threads in it??  If that is worth $1200 to you, then you probably have owned a Ford Pinto...or a "K" car...or a mini-van, and you ended up putting that much in it before you figured it out.  It is a parts tractor at best, and the parts would look best on a 702.  Take those wheels off and hang them on your barn...make a wind mill out of them...plant flowers in them in the garden...put them on your D-200 and go creek jumping.

You could donate that money to Red Square and start paying the Admins???  :orcs-cheers:

Sure... if they're not even, I buy that!  It would be kinda like one of those kiddie rides outside the grocery store...

I could see them 'winding up' when you side step the clutch for a hole shot too!

I wonder if there's a quarter slot on it?

Look, I am not trying to make anybody angry...but I would think you have to admit that $1200 is outrageous.  If the asking price was $100 or $200, I may not have said anything...but $1200 for a parts tractor.  The thing that makes me a little angry, is that none of you guys would pay that for this horse, but you would say that it might be worth that in this thread.  Words mater, if you really think it is worth that...OK, but if you are really not willing to pay that, you just might be making a new guy think this is a good deal.  Didn't we just have enough of that the past few years??  Which one of you would actually give $1200 for this parts tractor.??

BTW...I am an expert on the 1962's  Here is an all original 502...and it is not worth $1200, and it runs, and is original, and it is not rusted.
