Got a little more done on the rig today. 

I finished disassembly on the transmission. 

 

I found a wheel bearing that was somewhat beyond repair. 

 

 

Also discovered that when the differential and bull gear bolts came out at least one rode around the bull gear some.  

The bottom of both case halves is scun up but not worn through. 

One side is cracked but not broken. This'll be a very lightly used and rarely driven tractor so I'll opt for attempting a J. B. Weld repair if deemed necessary later on. 

 

Trina helped clean the largest of the muck off.  

We got a plastic tote bin container holder and placed the halves along with some of the other parts in it. 

Add 5 gallons of diesel and cover. 

Tomorrow or the next day we'll take out the pieces, scrub a tad, and flip em over back into the juice.

Well folks we're getting really narrowed down on things left to paint.

All that's left is the wheels, couple of rods and levers, and I still need to put the transmission together so that can be painted...

She's likely to begin assembly in the next couple days.

Nice work Eric and Trina. Can’t wait to see it assembled. Putting stencil lettering on the tins after it’s assembled? That would go with the military tribute.

Mostly her to be honest.

All I'm doing is rebuilding the transmission and cleaning out the carburetor.

 

 

We do have some stenciling and letters etc to be put on. Gonna look super snazzy I think.

Well boys and girls....

 

Looks like the BBT has found/invented a name for the tractor.

Trina started a wee bit of assembly this evening. 

Front axle is hung. 

Steering set in place. 

 

 

I pulled the carb off the engine. Seems simple enough. Not the  filthiest one I've ever seen but certainly overdue for a good cleaning. 

Need to find/make gaskets and get it back together. 

 

I'll take a peak at the manual @pfrederi sent me. The governor arm was loose so I'll need to adjust/set that.

Today's progress was good.  

I finished up cleaning out the transmission. 

Got that all spotless inside and out. 

BBT scraped it a bit with a hand wire brush to free up a little left over loose paint and rust then washed with her usual bare metal prep of acetone.  

 

That and several other things got newly painted or more paint.

Lookin’ good BBT!  Speaking of deer, I walked out back tonight and stalked a nice wide buck for about 5 minutes.  I couldn’t tell if it was 7 or 8+ points, but a good wide rack (for around here).  It got me excited for bow season!

Work continued today with Trina swapping out the bearings in the front wheels for the new SEALED units I got in the mail today.... Then bolting the front wheels on. 

Also,  she worked on getting the fuel tank off the carriage frame the engine sits in and lining it up to mount in the tractor. 

 

While she did that I modified my transmission mounting desk a bit, set the trans half in and put the gears in the case. 

I had to scavenge the 4 differential bolts from the parts pile. Ran out of time before I could get them cleaned up and installed. 

Perhaps finish up the transmission tomorrow.

Trina's been cleaning up and repainting the engine today.

Got it out of the stand that it was in. Scraped it down then wiped it with acetone.

 

 

 

 

 

 

She put a couple coats of paint over most of the engine. 

 

 

 

 

Here's the side with the original military letters after BBT painted it. Obviously she had masked off that area.

 

 

She wasn't satisfied with the way it looked so a little bit of controlled overspray later.....

 

 

 

 

 

And here it is sitting in the tractor.

The gasket is from the auction we went to almost 3 years ago now.

This evening we got the transmission together and in the tractor.

Of course the now "standard on all our builds" lug nut conversion. 

 

 

Last coat of paint on the fuel tank.

Transmission filled with 80w-140. 

Shift lever in. 

Drive and brake drum on transmission. 

 

We rolled it outside so The Paint Department could do a quick overall spray to cover the tractor as a whole. Painted over the nuts and bolts, areas where things were touched or scratched during assembly, etc. 

 

She put the tie rods on but they need adjustment or replacing. It's towed OUT something fierce. 

I'll pick up some 3/8 fine rod and get some together. 

 

Added the seat pan and seat...
