Yeah between the light on the tractor, the ice glaring, and the fact that it was dusk here... It couldn't begin to figure out where to be.

Interesting to me how phrases begin... And never go away.

I'm not sure where it started, do you know?

I had me a pretty good CB station back in the 70s and that's when I first heard it.  But mighta been from my neighbor who drove OTR and had LOTS of lights on his rig.

.....ever wondered where the term “Chicken Lights” came from? One legend says that the truckers in the 1920s, driving slow trucks on then-dark streets, were often the victims of thieves as they moved loads of chickens through small towns. To help stop this problem, truckers started putting lanterns around their cargo – thus the name, Chicken Lights...

Note that in the picture she's wearing the official BBT uniform.

That's the bottom of her Black Belt gi.

Also note the BBT created Wheelhorse table of awesomeness supporting the feets.

I've more socks than you could shake a stick at.

Thin socks. Thick socks. Tall socks. Short socks. Fleece socks. Five toed socks. No toed socks.

I feel like we could fix you up.

Stop by PA and pick up my plow on the way through for me.

Well folks.

Back to the Millie for a bit here.

@Oldskool @SylvanLakeWH

BBT's next new old something to do...

The 10 HP Tecumseh engine was always meant to be a temporary donor engine.

We'll take a peak at the original engine which is of course a Kohler 8 HP.

We'll also see about adding a few extra gears and a Limited Slip Differential.

Swapping the 3 speed for a 6 speed.

Yesterday Trina was working from home and it was pretty quiet on the 'puter so she went around the acreage here and gathered up the engine and Starter/generator.

She drained the (her words) black goo - from the oil pan.

IMG_20230221_204322.jpg.c192a0485f934298cdc07a177f198565.jpg

Removed the carb, fuel pump, breather and points cover from the engine.

IMG_20230221_204327.jpg.ee5706c6bc181bd52193e34330c5084d.jpg

We know the engine had no compression and we know it was because of the exhaust valve being caked with carbon.

We'll remove the valves, clean em up, check clearance.

Drop the oil pan off and look around in there.

After doing some assessment we'll decide what level of work and parts replacement is necessary.

Noticing the long shaft on the PTO side even with the three-sheave pulley on there.

Good eye.

I'll check the other two she has with that engine.

Trina finished cleaning up the bulk of the muck from the block.

Removed the oil pan so we could take a look at the engine bottom end. Looks good.

She reinstalled the oil pan.

We got the exhaust valve keepers put back in.

Checked proper clearance on both valves.

Exhaust - .017

Intake - .007

She installed the fuel pump and breather.

I hand planed the cylinder head just a bit. Happy to see it's barely out of contour.

We torqued it down to 18 or 20 ft lbs.
