ebinmaine 67,498 #176 Posted January 10, 2022 The BBT popped the chain off and de-twisteded it. Good eyes folks!
SylvanLakeWH 25,558 #178 Posted January 11, 2022 Idea! You should blindfold BBT, give her a wrench or paint or a hammer or duct tape, anything really… wipe off the dust on it and put her under Colossus… you remember Colossus?… and then tell her she’s working one of her tractors… step back and take pics… and she’ll have it finished before @Pullstart gets hurt again, or finds his keys, or… buys another Senior… 3

Maybe if I quit doing stuff around the house for us, and pull a little more income!

If you zoom in on this picture You'll see what appears to be an excess of zip ties holding things together. Some previous owner decided to cut or possibly pinch off one of the alternator wires and also the kill wire for the magneto. The kill wire I was able to shorten up and put a plug on which disconnects at that point and runs up to the ignition switch. The alternator wire I didn't want to mess up too badly... I had JUST enough wire to install a crimp connection with shrink tubing. Each of those has their own set of zip ties. Both alternator and one kill wire are all bundled, plugged in, and zip tied end to end so they won't come undone. Then there's everything holding the battery cables up out of the way and the other harness wires... It's kind of meticulous but I really don't want things coming undone in the middle of work. 1

I really like the convenience and ease of using then to hold something -and- the ability to snip them right off just as fast. I find that the USA made ones last several years. Imports, not so much. I find those last 4 or 5 years+.
ebinmaine 67,498 #199 Posted January 21, 2022 I got an ignition switch from @76c12091520h Brian Badman. Because it's a change from OE and my custom wiring harness I modified the schematic diagram BBT had printed out for us the other day. Finished up the wire installation using a 5 prong replacement holder @953 nut had mentioned awhile back. One of the ingenious PO modifications was to drill the original switch hole way too big instead of finding the correct switch. I found a couple thin washers and drilled them out a bit so they would hold the new switch snugly. New switch is set right in nice and happy with a keychain from @wheelhorseman Lowell at Wheelhorse Parts and More. Last known thing to do is make up a wiring harness for some nice LED lights and mount those in pre-existing holes. 7
ebinmaine 67,498 #200 Posted January 22, 2022 Got the headlamps mounted and wired to a plug behind the hood. Been experimenting with attachment of very small wires today because I'm adding some frame hole mounted LED lights. Green 🟢 round 3/4" diameter.
