Seems my drive shaft adapter "barrel" thingys took a dump, and I had to pull the engine to get the driveshaft out.

These were made in the mid to late 90s.  I would have to dig into my hard drive to find the year break down.  But in the meantime, how about the service manual?

Today my Drive Shaft Barrels came in the mail...

Got them put in the drive shaft (front and rear) and got the drive shaft back in...

The nuts and bolts looked like they had red Loctite on them...I'll be going back with blue Loctite...

Cleaned the engine...

Next I'll be setting the engine back in...

I've got grass to cut !

Came home today and worked on the Cub 2155...

Got most of the replacing drive shaft "barrels" project done...

Got the driveshaft back in, steering column back in, engine back in, muffler painted and back in, most wires and fuel line reconnected, throttle and choke cable reattached.

All I have to do is the hood and hood side panels, and I'm gonna change the oil...

While I'm on this tractor, I'm gonna change the oil...she's due.

Even though the 2000 series weren't as durable as the older IH made CCs, they were constructed a bit better than the series that replaced them, and the series that replaced the replacement series, and the.......Get the drift?  I don't think MTD has improved the Cub Cadet line in the last 25 years, but may have actually did the opposite.  Of course, all this is just my opinion, but I had older IH CCs, a couple of 2135s, a 1320 from the early 90s, and a 1500 series from the early 2000s.  Each seem to be a bit lighter than the previous model with more plastic and less durability.

I would have to agree with that...at least the hydro on the 2155 has a filter, so that's a little plus right there.

I guess I'm gonna go:text-offtopic:a hair...but while I was repairing the drive shaft barrels on my 1996 Cub Cadet 2000 Series 2155 HDS, and putting it all back together I figured I would give the deck a good once over since I was gonna sharpen the blades. I noticed the deck belt was rubbing a bracket and the grease zert was off center of the pulley guard.

I have been wondering why I was never able to get it to cut grass level...

Well as it turns out I have a bent spindle shaft on the right side...ordered a new shaft, bearings, and grease seals from PartsTree...

Then I should be ready to scare some gophers !

Sharpened the blades and primed the underside of the deck while I'm waiting on the new spindle,  spindle bearings, and seals...

@T-Mo  wonder why this service manual does not mention the 2155 model anywhere in it ?

It could be published before the 2155 was produced.  The earlier 2000 series were identified by having a "0" on the end, which meant hydrostatic drive, or a "5" on the end, which was the AGS, Automatic Gear Drive models.  I'm thinking the 2155 came later and the service manual was probably published before the 2155.  Good thing is, if you have the model and serial number, most of the manuals are available from MTD.

I know I'm way off topic as this thread started with me replacing the drive shaft barrels on my Cub 2155 HDS...but this is Cub related so I'll let you guys know what I've been doing to my big box store Cub Cadet LT 1024...

I have been going through the 50 inch deck, sharpening the blades, cleaning and painting the deck, and cleaning and greasing the spindles...

Admins, if I am really messing up by putting all this Cub related stuff under this one thread, by all means, let me know!

I should have named this thread "Messing with the Cubs", because I am covering way more than what the title says...

I am keeping all my non- Wheel Horse stuff here...so I finally got the 50 inch deck finished and put back on the CC LT1024.
