I know it’s challenging to take pictures of animals… so y’all will have to read words instead.  I just caught Lynx cleaning his undercarriage, with all his front weight bearing in the once broken leg.  He still has a limp, but is getting around just fine inside, outside, etc.

Ok, here’s a picture of him resting anyway.  He’s got a rough life.

Bad news.  Lynx was “missing” for about 30 hours or so.  He finally came crawling out of our closet of all places, with a broken arm again.  Here we go.  Starting over.  We have some of his drugs left and will keep him sedated until tomorrow night, then re-wrap him.  He’s in our bathroom for now, and of course his first retaliation was peeing on some of momma’s clothes that weren’t in the laundry basket.

Maybe the splint did not stay on long enough the first time. Only on about 2 weeks wasn’t it ?

About 3 maybe.  He’s old and stubborn.  Takes after momma :ROTF:  don’t tell her I joked about that!

Might be he's got an issue with soft bones or something Kev? Was it the same foot?

Right wrong or indifferent, we’ve kept him in our luxurious bathroom since we found him, and he’s eating, drinking, littering (one time out of his box, my guess is for spite) and getting around ok.  I’m half tempted to just keep him cooped up and let him get along with the bum leg.

Here's Ellie. Part Dachshund, part Yorkie, part Possum maybe? Her breed is literally known as Dorkie.

She's a meat-seeking sidewinder. At least when she is awake.

That's a pretty fair description of our PITA puppy dog as well

So he’s getting around ok.  Isn’t burying his pee in the litter box.  Not the end of the world.  Like Uncle Jim says, plenty of three legged cats around. He’s resting more than playing but doesn’t seem to mind his own laziness.  Eats, drinks, poops and pees.  Good cat I guess.  No more mice but he gets feisty if he sees a stink bug crawling around.

Aww… poor kitty… I’m sure he will adjust if he ends up with a slight disability.

One lame paw isn’t seeming to slow him down these days.

One of our dogs came to us as a stray pup with a bum rear leg.  When we took him to the vet for a general checkup, the vet said the leg was broken, but had a good callous around it and should be fine.  Turns out he was right.  That dog loved to run.  He was a boarder collie mix.  Sometimes, he would get too rambunctious in the house.  I'd open the door, point outside and say run.  Three or four laps around the house, he would come back in and settle down.

Our dog is a well-practiced couch potato for the most part.

Once or twice a day she'll go outside and do the Zoomeez for a lap or three around the backyard.

You talk about running around the house... My grandmother used to do the same thing to me and all the other grandkids.

Thing was, that was an old school New Englander two-story house and the barn was attached via an unfinished section at the back left corner.

If you didn't feel like running it felt like it took an hour and a half to get around the whole thing.

Some say we place too much personality or whatever on our pets. They say that animals function as nothing more than instinct, but we as humans project what we see as "love" from our pets. Well, I call BS on that theory. Many of my dogs over the years have been loving, loyal, and respective members of my family.

My dogs generally hide from my son under the table, bed, or wherever they can get. He is after all, wired for 220 and operates at 440 every waking moment of the day. But when he was sick with Covid, they stuck to him like glue. Not saying his rare "still and quiet" moments didn't help- but they stuck with him until he was back up and literally running. Instinct my butt. They do care!
