WHX??

Hate... as with live auctions. There always is one moron who has to rain on the parade.

Couple of us guys here were in a online auction where there was a pair of choice  :wh: aircraft tugs on the block. A 520 and a C-160. Things got way out hand real fast and they went for way more than they should have. Member here did end up getting one but said his wife was gonna kill him!

Really funny part was we were all on the phone together as the auction was closing trying to help each other get one! Really screwed up auction. Unlike fleabay where once the clock stops that's it. This one once the clock stopped you had so much time to place another bid.

Got a B-80 for $40 last year on 1 of them. Used battery, used tire and fresh gas and I was driving it

Love to sell items, hate to buy. We’ve sold several vehicles for ridiculous money. We take care of our stuff and the auctioneer hypes that up so I think that helps the price our stuff brings.

I have purchased vehicles, snowmobiles, parts, tractors and plenty of various tools from the local auctions.  Many times I get a good deal, but there are extra costs like auction fees, etc.  cash discounts help.  I have learned that I have to set my cap long before I even bid.  That way, I can’t get carried away.

Just been perusing ebay looking at old engineering tools.

Saw this listed, no information as to its use or if it is complete.

Any thoughts gentlemen?

For the 16 quid asking price I might just buy it for the fun factor.

Its actually a Macaura Pulsocon....

Honestly its not an April fools, this is legit.

Its a quack medical device supposed to improve circulation in women.

But its basically an early vibrator sex toy!

I kid you not, turn the handle  the out of balance wheel spins and makes the end vibrate, press it to the relevant area and her pulse rate will definitely climb.

The designer got three years in jail for fraud.

Got to.love tool auctions.

It was advertised as a woodwork tool. When I managed to read the makers name and googled it I was pretty blown away myself!

Mrs W said it looked more like an egg whisk lol.

The guy selling it was shocked!

He found it with woodwork tools and thought it was linked.

I guess it might make a decent paint stirrer lol.

I was just looking at a local online auction, and started to register to bid on a few items, and realized for "verification" purposes I had to enter a credit card number with full identification information (including CVV), before I could bid on anything.  This is from an established auctioneer, but there's a 3% charge for using a credit card, and they do accept cash and checks with no extra fees, but they don't allow you to specify that in their verification process.  I've had too many fraudulent charges on this card, so no thanks, I think I'll pass.

And then I remembered this thread, so I decided to read it and see if anybody had any other thoughts.  It started out seriously enough, and then @Mickwhitt took the discussion to a totally different level.  I haven't laughed this hard in quite a while, thank you sir!  And by laugh, I mean quietly, because if my wife were to hear me, I would just have to explain it to her, and I think I'd rather just keep this to myself. B)

Love them. I bid in a couple every month.

My wife hates them, because I bid in a couple every month.
