When it comes time to wrassle with mower decks to do maintenance on them as I am pushing 70 I'm finding it more and more difficult to move the damn things around. Planning on knocking together some 2x4s to fashion some sort of a stand that I can put the deck on near vertically in order to easily access both sides to work on it. I'll probably put a set of wheels on it too for easy moving around and storing vertically... should take up less room. I have a few ideas of my own, but the wealth of knowledge here should be tapped before I crank up the wood saws. Anybody got any ideas? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

shallowwatersailor 3,213 #8 Posted March 30, 2021 (edited) About seven years ago I made this using a Harbor Freight furniture dolly and 2" x 4" lumber. It was sized to fit the 5xi mower decks which are heavier but Classic WH mower decks also fit. That is a RD 42" Classic deck in the photos. The two "cleats" across the bottom catch on the edge of the shell and allow me to lay it over the deck to roll it up. 953 nut 55,108 #13 Posted March 30, 2021 I made one from old bed frame angle irons that has no wheels but is about an inch off the floor so it can be moved with a hand truck. very simple construction but gets the deck up off the floor and out of the way. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Shallow's idea is almost exactly what I had in mind. And I have an extra dolly around here somewhere too! I think this is what I'm going with.
