Goldnboy 910 #1 Posted March 29, 2021 (edited) I have a older style 42"SD deck I believe similar to model 75-42MS01. My idler bar is not sliding and I have clean frame new pulley clean bar, spring, new slide blocks and old slides (6748). I think they are too worn and need replaced. What are you using for replacing slides? Edited March 29, 2021 by Goldnboy
Handy Don 12,163 #2 Posted March 29, 2021 (edited) Can't really see much with the covers on in your picture. So you have new plastic guides for the slide, correct? And the slide was free to move without much flopping around before you installed the deck belt? The other common problems are: over tightening the bolts and "smushing" the plastic guides, not putting the washers in the right places to see the slide free to move, and (oddly) leaving the slide holding bolts too loose so the slide binds instead of sliding. With the slide off, a worn slide will not have its slot sides perfectly parallel. One side or both sides will be worn into a curve causing it to bind on the guides. Replacement is from a donor deck using the same part. I replaced one on a 42" RD with one from a 36" RD, for example. Nice work, by the way! Lee1977 6,648 #3 Posted March 30, 2021 Is this the type you have. They are made from nylon. I had the slot milled out in the nylon and then sawed them out and drilled the holes. You also need the thin pieces below to get them to slide. I hade to weld up the slide and grind and file it back into shape. The slide get worn places at the nylon slides and will not move. Goldnboy 910 #5 Posted March 30, 2021 The Slides that I reused when I assembled were like paper thin. I thought I may have read a thread were a member made Slides from milk carton? I was able to source the slide blocks from @Lane Ranger

I'm currently in the process of replacing the idler bar and the ROUND slides on mine.
