Gregor 4,846 #4 Posted March 29, 2021 I said the other day, I would not buy another tractor, unless it was a 16HP, or a Black Hood. Well, it's not 16 HP, but the hood looks black to me. It popped upon Facebook. 8 minutes after it was posted, I was messaging the guy. 45 minutes, and $150 later, it was on the trailer, headed home. He said he must have sold it too cheap. His phone was blowing up, but I was the first to message him. Complete with mower deck, snow plow, and owners manual. "Ran When Parked" I'm just not sure how long it's been parked. Motor turns free, without any funny noises. The guy said he had the motor rebuilt at one point, by a shop I am familiar with, and trust. I dunno. Might be a good thing, might not. I don't know if the seat/fender pan is plastic, or fiberglass, but it's cracked, and will need some attention. The rest of the tin looks very good. I think the deck is pretty bad. I was not interested in it for mowing anyway. Tire is flat, but in a few days, I'll have extras. This will get towed to my storage for now. I am NOT opening up another project right now. Gregor 4,846 #7 Posted March 29, 2021 I used the 656 to yank the 125 into the garage this morning, for a quick look over. (the neighbors still love me) It looks to me to be 100% complete. The fender/seat pan appears to be plastic, and has chunks missing. I'll bet these are just all over the internet, right? The rest of the tin work is perfect. Surprisingly the 125 seems larger in stature, than my 141. It's pieces, parts, and workings though, look very similar to the 141. When I turned the motor over by hand last night, it spun very easy. Maybe too easy I thought. I pulled the plug to check, and the piston is moving up and down, so that's a good sign anyway. Not sure what to do with the deck. It has a couple of large holes, and I don't believe it's worth saving. I will yank it off, and later today, pull the tractor around to storage. Gregor 4,846 #12 Posted April 4, 2021 I decided to see if the 12 HP Kohler in the 125 would start. I installed a new out-of-the box coil. A new out-of-the box China carb. cleaned and set points, and put in a new plug. Rigged up a fuel delivery system, and gave it a go. It will fire and try to run for about 1/2 second, but that's it. I finally gave up, rather than burn up my starter. Of course I wanted the coil back off or my 181. Went to take it off, and it was HOT ! I don't mean good and warm, I mean HOT ! I hope I didn't fry it. What would cause a coil to get this hot? I have no idea. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

If it's a coil that requires a resistor it will draw too much current without one and overheat. What model is the coil spec'd for? What's the resistance of the primary?
