That is why I drive Ford

Recommended Posts

A 60 some year old commercial, just coming into the height of tv advertising, trying to sell a product. Very similar to the Chevrolet Joie Chitwood stuff.

Who would have guessed that this level of drama and action would still be the top of the list type of advertising in today's world?

"That is why I drive what ever company supplies me with cars and parts for me to put on a show" :)

Would have liked to see a thrill show like that using Renaults. Or should I say "Trying to put on a show with Renaults!"

Joe:

Nice vintage footage. As a young teenager, I used to help out the guys that ran a short track Class B stock car at a couple of local speedways. Once a summer, the tracks would have a show put on by The Hurricane Helldrivers between the races. It got old and predictable after the second year, but entertaining none the less. What I really looked forward to was what the track started off with in 1948 - Midget Racing. Good times!

From my experience, they all break down eventually.  For the most part, I haven't had the best of luck with Ford, and have great experiences with Chrsyler and GM products.  That is not to say I won't own a Ford, I bought that Ford 2N a few weeks ago, plus a F-250 about a year ago.  Brand loyalty is okay, but it's usually not based on anything "real".  Drive what you like and don't worry about whatever everyone else likes.

Could not agree more!

I have a Ford F150 now but mostly drove Dodge Trucks. Got into the Ford because the DIL worked in accounting at a dealership and set me up with a sweet deal. I did have two different trucks picked out one with a 5.0 The other was the twin turbo ecoboost. I ask her to check with their service manager about the better of the two. The boost truck was almost a grand more money but he said hands down much less problems. I got the turbo and knock on wood it is just under 100K miles and has been good. I really did not realize when I made the choice it makes it best power at 2500 RPM and is great for towing.

Now my brother (hard core dodge guy) told me he wants it if I get a new one. Go figure.

I worked in all 3 major American brand shops. They all have their good points and bad points. My Tundra was the best vehicle I ever owned. But I will say this; I love the leather seats in my 2013 GMC! :banana-linedance::flags-usa::banana-linedance:

Sometimes it depends on your experience with your local dealership.   I had bad experiences with two different Ford dealerships, so I tend to avoid them.  But I acknowledge that the F-150 is a good truck.  Yet I see more high mileage GM trucks on the road, including my 21 year old GMC.   To each his own.
