iam206 81 #56 Posted March 31, 2021 Was able to push some millings today... But not until I had to take apart carb again. Took fuel pump apart this time also and found debris in the pump. I'll need all new gaskets for everything, but I have it temporarily back together and pushed back into service. I'll update some pictures... I would back drag the pile to get a good section for pushing, then push that to end of driveway.. then repeat until I got enough to spread with plow and back drag. iam206 81 #59 Posted April 3, 2021 Was able to get a little more millings spread out today and rolled it with my little yellow steamroller. I will go back over it and rent a tamper once I get it all spread. I might get another load dropped, went a little thick in some areas to level the job out. I am super happy with this old girl! I was messing with the carb adjustments today, I think I found a good setting on it, still occasionally pops, but for the most part it was running good. It doesn't like to run below a half a tank of gas though. I still think the fuel pump is a bit on the weak side. Do they sell the diaphragm and valves for the original pump anywhere? the repaired hydraulic hose will need attention. hose clamps just dont cut it. Belt slip is necessary to an extent because that's literally the clutch action on these tractors. The belt and pulley will be available from A to Z Tractor in Pennsylvania. Likely also Tractor Supply. If you haven't already done so, put all new fuel line on. The second day, I was very wet and I figures any slipping i was getting was better than wheel slip and such. yesterday I felt like an old pro and as soon as I heard a little slip I backed off what ever I was attempting and eased back into it with better success. Now I have quite a bit of "belt dust" around the front pully due to all my slipping and with the other damage from the battery rubbing against it from P.O. iam206 81 #63 Posted April 4, 2021 (edited) Tractor Supply to the rescue. They had a blue Kevlar belt 5/8 x 84 inches on the shelf. Thought I made a mistake at first because it wouldn't disengage, but with a few minutes of brake in it was doing its job properly. The butt dyno says it was a marked improvement. Sorry Eric, but I have to respectfully disagree. If a tractor has the correct belt, width, length, and shape, and the correct pulleys and idler tension, it should never slip. IMO, the safety clutch in these tractors is the connection of the tires to the ground. I'm speaking only of the very moment of release of the clutch pedal. If a rubber coated belt is used it'll grab hard and toss ya off the horse. iam206 81 #67 Posted April 5, 2021 I got the last of the pile of millings spread out, Started prepping for the second dump of millings due tomorrow. For this second section I have to do a bit of hand digging. Wish I had some sort of cultivator or ripping tool for the back of the tractor, but I will soon enough. Some of the spots, like where I have the white line painted in the grass, I was thinking of trying out the Troy-Built tiller I have. you can probably see it in the first post I made in this thread. I did the garden with it so If I break it at this point, I am good till next spring.. fingers crossed. lol I put my trailer to work hauling the dirt away that I am generating from the driveway excavation. I modified the Wheel Horse factory hitch to accept the spare 2" ball I have so I didnt need to drive the 'yellow horse" on the lawn and make a new project for myself. I was surprised how much this old girl can do! The wheels slipped a bit on the loose driveway with the "full load", but she pulled that trailer well. I was mostly on flat ground when it was loaded, and up hill when it was empty. Once I get all spread out I will rent a tamper for the day and see how many fillings I can loosen up in my teeth. another good day with the Wheel Horse! Good addon for the type of work you're doing. 2" receiver so you can change heights or ball size quickly. I keep 3 or 4 on hand for different trailers. When I get to log some shop time (my shop is in the same town where I work, about an hour away from where I live ) I'll weld up something that is appropriate for the job. I mentioned earlier in the thread, that we purchaced the property a little over a year ago. First phaze was getting the interior liveable and now I get to play with the garage to get that in a condition that I can move my shop into that. Maybe by this fall I'll have the new garage structure up (if I last that long..), In the meantime, I really want to score a lift cable and a slot hitch so I can start using the rear lift. Yes active to the local coal mines daily and to a long freight line about three times a week. On weekends we get local tourist trains and the occasional Steam engine out of Jim Thorp. Some trains are very nice, other Trains are a bit of a nuisance. Depends on the guy running the train and how hard he lays on the whistle. Yes, we have a crossing, but our road doesnt get much traffic, but they still have to whistle at our road. We don't have a gate, but we have some lights. It's actualy a tricky crossing for vehicles due to its hill and approach angle. It provides for entertainment periodically....
