OK, trying to understand. Was what I pictured not a wheel horse hitch?

What you pictured is a sleeve / Brinly hitch made to fit Wheel Horse..

A Wheel Horse slot hitch looks like this.

Wheel-Horse-Sleeve-Hitch-IMGWheel053.jpg.ba3e9edad980115e78e92c02e760bc31.jpg

Implements for this hitch would have a 2" x 5/8" flat bar for a hitch. This bar would slide inside the slot hitch on the tractor and be held in with a 1/2" pin.

Soooo, I have been looking for hitches and stuff, got a question.

If I find and install one of these clevis  hitches...

Can I run a box blade like this one???

Or a cultivator?

Since I have no hitch and no cable, what do I need and from what donor tractors?

Thanks,

David.

These are the same as the Brinley hitch that Lowell sells.

Do you think the drive belt was rubbing on the battery a bit?

Bet that smelt good !  A little more and acid would have been running. (or maybe it already was!  I think I can see inside the battery!)

Hard to tell.

Maybe a light graze?

Got that battery situation straightened out for now, got a Walmart el-chepo in there for the moment.

Ran some new cables for it and rigged a temporary wire strap for the moment.

yea, the belt wore a nice hole in the side of that old battery fluid was long gone in that cell, but the other cells still had some juice in them.

Figured you guys would get a laugh out of it.

I changed the oil in the Kohler that was nice and black.

I also changes the fluid in the sundstrand. it was a bit low, barely read on the dipstick. so that is up to speck with new filter and trans fluid.

I ran new fuel line from the original shutoff valve to the fuel pump, placed a new, clear inline filter.

I think I am having an issue with my fuel pump???

still need to pull apart the carb, but the filter took a long time to fill up and prime, and once it got below a half a tank it would sputter and stall out.

So I think i am going to pull the pump to see if it is stuck or clogged.

I installed the snow/dozer blade I have for it...

I will go out and take a pic of the part number on that blade, but it is missing the angle adjustment linkage, and I had to take an unconventional approach to mount the rear hitch mount that I had for it off a toro setup. but it is on and working.

I connected a solid mount for the lift piston so I could get some down pressure on it and off I went to regrade my driveway....

So, I have a red shale driveway that has been pounded into the ground and has just been a muddy mess since we bought the place a little over a year ago. we are getting a load of asphalt millings delivered this week and I need to press this thing into service.

I have a few pics of the driveway before and what I was able to get done so far and I'll post some pics of my plow setup..

Thanks,

David.

a load of asphalt millings

For some reason, I'm told that in NJ there is some stupid law that they can't reuse or sell millings.

Quick Google turned this up:

Quote

E. ENVIRONMENTAL AND PUBLIC HAZARDS

The bitumen binder used in asphalt paving applications contains a relatively large concentration of a family of carcinogenic compounds which can pose serious human health and environmental concerns in certain circumstances such as when asphalt material is ground into very small particles that easily blow off of or wash from the surface. These compounds, known as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are specified as targeted pollutants by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), and are present in asphalt at much higher levels than the criteria established by the DEP for general use in a loose fashion on land. Asphalt millings used alone without a paved top surface have the potential to significantly migrate from the roadway through the actions of water, wind, and physical displacement and possibly contaminate surrounding soils and/or surface water sediments. Traffic traveling on the unpaved asphalt millings would generate dust containing the compounds referenced above and the dust would be a major migration route of the millings to the surrounding environment.

But... but...  they ARE the 'pavement'!  And once they are compacted, there's nothing 'loose' again.  I don't get it.

I can't quite figure out what this is?

I had the same problem Jeff.  It appears he installed the axle bracket backwards to position the plow frame forward so the blade angle lever bracket would clear the foot rest.

Ahhh, I see it now!

Something looks si-goggle here also, not sure what's going on with that...  looks like the mid mount tach-a-matic bracket is bent?

hi guys,

yea I have the plow mounts on backwards. the plow mount came off of a Toro wheel horse model and to fit it to mine this is the only way i could clear the transmission.

If there is another way, I couldnt see it.

I guess the tach-a-matic is bent it came that way.

I dont think this plow and bracket is the correct plow for this machine, but I am doing what I can with what I have. :)

That's the  idler pulley bracket for the side drive for the deck.      Pre front mule drive.

The plow frame and blade are correct, but the correct axle bracket would have the frame attachment point centered below the axle, moving the plow 2=3" to the rear.

Had some issues with the carb or fuel pump last night when wraping up like I stated in previous post.

Took carb apart and cleaned bowl and spray down with cleaner.

Set both jets out at 1 1/4 turns from bottom, don't know if that is correct, but she fired up almost right away.

Fuel pump was pumping when I had it disconnected from carb, so that seems good.

Wish me luck...

You planning on spreading that with your plow?  Or they gonna do that for you?

Shoulda asked him to walk it along as he dumped it!

And OMG!  better use an OSHA approved respirator !  That stuff is SOOO DANGEROUS!!! just ask the NJ legislators, they'll tell ya!  :ychain::hide:

The more I think about NJ outlawing the use of millings, the less faith I have in government.

Do they not realize that every asphalt surface everywhere is constantly being eroded by the passage of vehicles and that the particles from that erosion are becoming airborne and washing into watersheds happens every single day?

When they are doing the actual milling, what of all that deadly bitumen dust that goes into the air?

And what about all the roofing surfaces that are composed of stuff bound with bitumen?  Those don't erode and do the same thing?

Good golly Miss Molly...

Just take it slow.

Don't 'ram' the plow into the pile and try to take too big a bite at one time.  do that an you can crack the tranny mounts.

I was having luck with backdraging the big pile to get it to a point so I can push the milling around.

Ran out of gas, so a quick trip to town turned into a 2 hour event with the boss. So I'll attack it tomorrow if the rain scheduled isn't too bad.

A box blade would do me wonders at this point.

Push a pile onto a 4x8 sheet of plywood with ropes attached so you can drag it.

Have the missus stand on the plywood with a shovel.
