Retro-Generator 12v Circuit

Recommended Posts

I needed a simple 12v circuit based off the 1045 for a custom 800 Special with K-241 & Generator.

This is about as simple as it gets. The ignition switch will need to be a heavy duty unit the will handle 70 amps cranking current,

If you would rather use a solenoid and regular 103-990 ignition switch then this drawing will get you going.

Always nice to have more drawings, no need to change my circuit tho’, unless you see an issue?

Kind of hard to read you diagram but it looks about right.  Don't forget your regulator to  Genny A terminal wire.

No, it's in there! I liked this drawing as it was in the 1045/1277 manuals, and surely many more of the early tractors.

WH didn't show the regulator to A terminal wire as it was a Kohler installation...

Well, it's a must have, that's for sure!

My 1045 has spark advance on the cam(241) that generator and carburetor have to be in really good shape to start it as there is not compression release!

The advanced spark will help you out. This type of engine can not be timed with static timing, a timing light must be used. The timing sight hole is below the S/G mount.

My first encounter with AS some 10yrs ago, actually fires right up very nicely, runs beautiful. However, this is going to be completely different set up on the 800 Special, I’ll get some pictures on another post you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about as far as different goes!
