Three belts in 2 days

Recommended Posts

JAinVA

I know a lot of you guys have had days like this. Went to vacuum gum balls in the drain field. First pass and the mower deck belt shredded. Being an older 42" deck it takes a different belt than newer ones I have. That was the last belt on the shelf for me so deck swap.Went to till the garden today. Got to the garden gate, opened the gate and got back on the tractor. Push in the clutch and put it in gear. Releasing the clutch and nothing. Main drive belt broke, and you guessed it no spares for the 8speeds just for the hydros. I stole one off of a parts machine and tilled the garden. Last pass over and  tiller belt fails.  Two simple jobs and it took 4 times as long but at least they got done. Spares belts are on the way.

The Tuul Crib

Sounds a little bit like my luck only I popped a drive belt twice on my 414. The second time I messed up the idler
pulley and bracket . Had to wait over a week for parts!

Stepney

Tossed a steer belt on my 85 Ford a few years ago, drilled the thing and used a pair of zip ties to hold it together... actually lasted almost a month.

Not too sure it would ever last with all the twists on a WH drive though

Pullstart

@PeacemakerJack has drilled this word into my head a couple two three times, so I’ll pass it on.  Jim, your tenacity to keep on keepin’ on is what counts.  Job well done.  Most likely, with all the down time included, you were still faster than doing work by horse or hand, which is what the brand was designed to do :handgestures-thumbupright:
