Pullstart 62,803 #2 Posted March 23, 2021 By the pound, are they worth more or less than 1 cent?
rjg854 11,351 #3 Posted March 23, 2021 Well @pullstart I'm no mathematician but if 51 lbs equals $105 I'd say that sounds like about $2 a pound 1
formariz 11,987 #4 Posted March 23, 2021 All kinds of treasure out there if one is willing to look and work for it. I am not sure what copper is going for but perhaps metal worth more than that? Looks like perhaps you cleaned them?

Zinc probably doesn't have much scrap value, does it? Edited March 23, 2021 by Jeff-C175

Backing my truck up to the metal pile caught a glimpse of the shiny copper and thought I would have a better have look at it before leaving. The two containers were sitting on-top on that dishwasher. When I picked both up to carry over to the truck I'm thinking at lease 50 lbs, got home tared in two fresh containers then weighed up the prize, the weight was 50.95. Pat added a few coins making the total an even 51 lbs. Canadian coins have not been pure copper for years, now I've discovered in the late 90's the mint was experimenting with a copper plated over nickle on an iron planchet , as you can see I have removed the magnetic coins and will be checking these later this evening. Could be more possible coins of value, just don't have the patience to sort through 10,500 penny's. The Canadian penny was removed from circulation about 10 years ago Magnetic experimental coins. Mickwhitt 4,593 #8 Posted March 24, 2021 When we had a huge gold bullion heist over here they were smelting copper coins with the pure gold to hide its true identity. They used tons of pennies to do this apparently. Like you say they are now ferrous metal with a copper coating.

R Scheer 502 #11 Posted March 24, 2021 Well at least your prepared for a lot of responses. This is the place to get them. Warning: The responses you receive may have absolutely nothing to do with the question, but they will be entertaining. I was watching one of those diy shows, they cleaned the pennies with muriatic acid, glued them to a sheet of something, and embedded them in clear epoxy to make a backsplash. Looked good, but seemed to tedious for me.

bc.gold 3,403 #14 Posted March 25, 2021 Last image the total less the banks 5%, without counting the coins 220 grams to the dollar worked out to the penny. The coin counter chocked up and had to be resuscitated
The Tuul Crib 7,336 #15 Posted March 25, 2021 I just heard this morning on the news that some employer somewhere paid his employee money owed to him. I believe it was the sum of 950 bucks. Paid him all in pennies soaked them in oil and dumped it on his driveway! cruel world isn't it!
