bc.gold 3,403 #1 Posted March 23, 2021 Looking at a cool Audi 2.5 TDI diesel 6 speed manual transmission with 250,000 Kms being sold on a dealer lot by owner, for its age and mileage looks decent. Fresh safety but those signatures can be bought and I suspect the bill of sale will say - SOLD AS IS WHERE IS. The car is a 3.5 hour drive from my home so I'm doing some serious research before forking out fuel money to inspect the vehicle on site. This is when I found out about dual mass flywheels most having a failure rate at 100,000 Km or even less. Decided to check and see what other brands also used the dual mass flywheel and it seems most manufactures use them, some one wised up and is offering a solid mass flywheel replacement for the Dodge diesel. There maybe others out there for GM and Ford. If your not sure what a dual mass flywheel is and what purpose its supposed to do, this short video explains them. Stepney 2,325 #2 Posted March 23, 2021 My '06 Subaru flat 4 has one too. Allegedly people claim it makes a massive difference.. I dunno, every air cooled VW or older manual Subaru I ever drove felt just as good, if a little more responsive and solid..

I dunno, every air cooled VW or older manual Subaru I ever drove felt just as good, if a little more responsive and solid.. You must have a diesel engine. Subaru Clutch Dual Mass Kits These were only available with a push-type clutch for non-turbo petrol engines, commonly with the 1999 Outback, Liberty and Forester and gave a lot of problems. As cars came in for warranty repair Subaru converted to WAD clutches. For the last five years Subaru have not used dual mass clutch in petrol engines, but have reverted to dual mass for diesel models to reduce engine noise. The dual mass clutch provides Improved Subaru gearbox shift feel (due to lower reciprocating clutch plate mass), but is more expensive to replace. It pays to be aware of all these issues before making any decision on a Subaru clutch replacement, particularly with the 2.5 litre model Liberty, Outback, and Impreza clutch kits. Stepney 2,325 #4 Posted March 23, 2021 Must be an old bit of text, no, this is a gasser. No diesel Subarus are even available USDM far as I know. 06-08 Forester and Outback models used the DMF on the EJ253 gas engine. They also had issues, and went to some other sort of flywheel in more recent times.
