For me the 953 has the greatest eye appeal. they are a miniature version of the tractors I grew up on. I have converted one of mine to a row crop tractor with a three point hitch.     :confusion-confused:          Now I have to decide what implement to add.

Have I missed this?  Don't see how!  Really nice!  And a 3-point!  You know if this isn't detailed here already you have some work to do!  One thread on the 3-point and another on the trike front end.

OK, now I see you have left a link.  I love it!

I don't know if there is such a thing as a 16HP Black Hood, but if there is, that would be the ultimate.

There is a 19.5 HP Black Hood, the C-195 AKA the "Super C". This isn't mine but that model is on my bucket list. Big rear tires and a big old Kohler Twin.67772581_2592851800727088_2243404054564700160_n.jpg

Nah, I'm in it for the long haul.  I have a nice C175 with a Series II I'd be willing to part with though...

I have a c-165 with a Kohler.  when I got it there was no compression. It had a broken rod. I bought a new rod and rings. Now it Runs good.  I assume it is a black hood but somebody painted it red.  it has a mower. I don’t use it. It’s just sitting in my garage.

My garage is crowded so this is about as good as the pictures will get. I have no idea on the hours, but she runs great and has a nice snarl to her on throttling up! I have a thread on here somewhere where I installed an oil filter and gauges, too.

Same - i'd love a C195 with a 3point. why? i dunno. but i would just the same.

i rather like the D series as well, if it was not for a significant lack of attachments out there (and an empty bank account) i'd be interested in one of those too :D

I suppose my dream :wh: would be one of those 420 LSE's. I'll never own one because of the cost, but that is one sweet tractor. It definitely has the bling factor. What good is a :wh: of you're afraid to work it. And one of those I consider a show piece.

In the mean time, you can add some bling factor to you current rigs

We talk about the 16 HP black hoods, but what about a bored out 14 HP?  two of them came to me at an almost free price, and the rough looking one was bored .015 over .Boy does she sound nice! I have heard of bored ten horsepower making eleven, so just wondering.what a built fourteen would make?. Anyway, fellas, the c-160 came in late last year and they pretty much sound the same.  i have been a fan of that Kohler thump since my dad bought a no numbers 7 HP Kohler in that brand new cub Cadet in the early sixties.

I guess my dream tractor is finally gonna be when i bite the bullet and get an engine bored out and then put it back together. The candidate is a really egg shaped cylinder K-14...

Back in the day, Dad had a Oliver 88 gas bored out and M & W pistons installed. a big difference in power and fuel consumption was a lot higher.

Your Black hood 16 would be a C165.

They're out there....

The difference in 520

I have a C160. Cinnamon Horse. Rugged and bull strong.

Dream Horse?

Well that's why I'm building Colossus....

I see the mod you might want on Colossus as a 520 steering system with the roller wheel bearings mated to four bolt golf cart wheels. I imagine that you would have to ct out the wheel center and mount studs to it. Then add some wild off road tires to the front.

Those, specifically, maybe... But there are dozens if not hundreds of wheels on the market for the pulling crowd and golf carts.

Ya know.... I did kinda head that way.

I didn't want to spend the money to get a 520 front end so I rebuilt a PO made steel axle.

Added 2" of forward splay and several inches to the width.

I'll be using the roller bearings for the spindles.

The front hubs and wheels are 5 lug trailer. I went narrow as I could (find for decent price) for the wheels.

Front tires are 12" wheel tri ribs.

Well, I managed to snag my "dream horse" -- a 520H, with a 48" deck and a 2-stage snowthrower, plus a front blade -- right off when I first went looking for a Wheel Horse a few years ago. Not a beauty queen (at least not yet) but everything I wanted in a worker.

ePsJa0Y.jpg

If I ever have room to add another to the stable, though, it would probably be a C-series from the early or mid 1970s, right before the dash tower was modernized. I grew up and went to school around South Bend, and Chandler's Service (the major Wheel Horse dealer, located just walking distance away from where the Ponds build the first Horses) supplied a couple of Wheel Horses to my school for groundskeeping tasks. I always remembered them, and wouldn't mind having one...

If i went that way, i might get 4 bolt axles for golf cart wheels as they are super cheap. and they take ATV tires. But if that beast is gonna plow snow, i understand your choice.  I better stop thinking or there could be a project looking for a tractor.........
