Some people would rather rent than own a house. Our tenant sold her house to get away from upkeep and I can tell you that there are a lot of costs that a landlord incurs along the way. We are not slumlords, we bought a house and property for our retirement home and later built a new house on the same property. Should we tare the old house down so no one could ever live in it? Some folks choose to invest in a property, others choose some other type of investment to provide an income during their retirement years. Those that were depending on that rent money might well be cheated out of it as the current idiots say that the tenant cant be evicted and they can stay on someones property and the landlord be damned. Tenants leave crap all over the place, don't repair the exhaust systems on their cars that run and the ones that don't run, they make dog houses out of them. Here's the view from my garage.
